Stupid of me but now are there any ill effects?
Hey guys, well just got in and it is 350am EST.
I never burned out in my 8 yet until tonight.
I launched around 7k and the car was smokin! I loved it, yes I know very stupid at that high of an rpm but i had a roach years ago and launched at 8-9k and it was fine. But I did have a upgraded clutch and some tranny work.
Well after my burnout in second I took it all the way to 9500.
lol i know some of you are saying, "this guy is just stupid".
Well it is all done and over with so now are there any ill effects to my new 8? Should I be worried? Car seems fine.
Idles normal, took it out on the highway again and took it up on the revs and it resonded with no problem.
Should I check for anything in particlular or am I just paranoid? Thanks guys!!!!

From my own experience and from those of others on this forum both the clutch and the tranny are pretty sensitive to high RPM launches.
Just something to be aware of

High RPM every once in a while is good for the rotary engine. Helps keep it cleaned out. Abuse of the clutch is just going to shorten its' life. The RX-8 clutch is inexpensive and easy to change, so no big deal there. I'm sure yours is still ok after just one launch.

Not bad for your engine, just your driveline. Rotaries need to be revved, so don't worry about that. But your clutch and rear diff are the ones who are going to take the brunt of the damage.
