I would either get aftermarket black wheels with a polished lip. or a different color. I'm not a big fan of the stock wheels painted black.

Some folks are understandably tired of giving their "opinion". And yet they have such mad skills and awesome rides you're just dying to learn from them. You see their car and you think "I want to do that too!" and so you ask how they did it. But it's an art, it's a science, and it's personal ... they don't exactly want to share it. They want us to learn it for ourselves, to use the "force" and grow, tough love. And you curse them for not understanding how needy you are but you know they are just making you buck up and walk for yourself. They'll still break down at times and give and give ... but sometimes, they'll reign down on you for a little typo. Haha.

Man, I value these guys opinions so much! You know if you painted them pink, this place'd shun you. So they do care what you do, they just want to see you make good choices ... mechanically and cosmetically. They'll make you do some legwork, to show that you're trying to learn, and then they'll offer you a crutch.

Well that's how I see it. Hope nobody feels included if they don't want to be.

So I've always liked the oem rims, a bit too common, but if you powerdercoat them and they look good (to you, me, them), that'd be alright. Hopefully you can get something different (but black) down the road.

im not sure what thats supposed to mean but i think its pretty emotional... not sure if i was supposed to cry or not.

If you like the powdercoated black stock wheel i will tell you there is a set for like 400 bucks on ebay right now if you search. I cant post a link, but its there.

Otherwise im a chrome guy and like a big staggered offset with a nice lip and 5-8 spoke.

It's my party and I'll cry if I want to ...

Haha, no need to cry or curse me for being a bit sentimental. I do have a softer side but I can be a ***** when you know me. Just wanted to say it's not all flame wars and tough-guy stuff. Not afraid to show my feminine side ... yech, now this is sounding stupid so that's all the inspirational talk for one day.

There's the paint and bake way for wheels which make it look as nice as power coat... You just need to read up on how to DIY. Just remember, curb rash damages both power coating and painting the wheel.

I like it...

I have had this idea for a little while - but have been researching lighter weight options as well.

There is a customer that comes into service here that has RX-8 stock wheels on his Crystal White Pearl 'SPEED6 and it looks downright awesome.

Anyone know how much weight the powder coat adds?

Dunno why I'm commenting here really or if it's been said, but you could go with a Wet black look. It's not any kind of crome look, and it's got class.

I'd say only do this if you could do it yourself though. If it's a money pit just get some nice aftermarket rims that fit your style.

- Matt

P.S. I guess the reason this came to mind was my buddy just bought new ISP rims for his lexus IS250... When we went to pick them up, they had a version of his old lexus rims on display, wet black color. It's pretty neat.

i wanted to powder coat my stockers for a while now. was planning on the "wet black" look, not too shiny but definitely gloss. someone mentioned a matte black powder coat ... i hadn't thought of that! are there any pics of a matte black powder coat? i have a bb, so matte black wheels might not look good with shiny black body paint, but it sure sounds interesting!!

^Yeah i dont think the matte black wheels would look good on your BB. They would definitally look better if they were glossy.

I was never a fan of black wheels myself so I guess my opinion is a little biased. Though I like the idea that if you do it, paint the center cap red

i hate the chrome stockers.. just my opinion and also go for the black with the center cap stock with silver calipers.. really compliments the black rims.. having red calipers on a red car.. looks cheap to me... looks awesome on vr
