Still unsure whether I like all the attention....
So I got stuck behind a school bus on the way into work today, and all the kids in the back of the bus (elementary school age) could not stop staring at me and the RX8 for the ENTIRE 10 minutes I was behind it. They even got their friends from a couple of seats up to come to the back of the bus to stare. It was cool at first, but it started to really annoy me after about 5 minutes, and I started feeling uncomfortable (kids don't know how to stop staring, and since I couldn't look away I was stuck in that position).
I think it's the rarity of the car. I've only seen like 5 of them in Connecticut since I've owned my RX8, which is why people stop and stare all the time. If the RX8 was a mass produced vehile such as the Mustang and you saw them everywhere, it would lose it's effect.
I guess I do like the attention, but those kids did freak me out. Still, it's great to drive a car that looks as good as it does, and have the handling / performance to match (I still can't believe this car was affordable to me.....it looks like a $50K car.

And to the kids defense, it IS an amazing looking car. If I was in the bus I would be staring at the car too.

oh man, you should have had one in 2004 when they first came out. you were THE center of attention everywhere.
I've had my picture taken while driving about 7 times.

wait wait...attentions a bad thing?
may not be exactly a ferrari, but didn't you expect the watchful eye with such a unique car?
I sure don't mind especially coming from cars such as an 86 civic and 90 bonneville. it's all relative i suppose.

The only attention I've had in the past month is negative attention:
1) getting my car egged in the middle of the night
2) getting my car broken into at 8am right before work.
I havent even had my car for 2 weeks (shop) i hate this ******* dodge durango rental. I miss pulling up to starbucks late at night and getting a nice Frappichino and sitting outside staring at my car (along with everyone else)

Kids are like weather ***** they point which way the wind is blowing - they can tell you if you have a hot car and their feelings are honest. Next time just grin and rev!

I like the attention when I'm driving by someone and they turn their head to check out the car. But a bunch of kids that stare for an extremely long period of time? Little awkward.

They're not THAT rare here, but you probably only see one a day around vegas. I do know that I got more stares in the RX-8 than I do in the S2K or the Cayenne S and the Cayenne S sits on 22's.
