SSR Professors 18x10.5: Don't Fit

I have a buddy that is selling a set of SSR SP1 Professors that he had on his 350Z that he traded in for a Nismo 370Z. Well, I am looking for another set of wheels since I am going to put race tires on this stock set for auto-x next year, and I thought I would give it a try to see if they would fit on my RX-8. The rears are 18x10.5 with 295 tires on them (forgot the offset), and it looked fine on his 350Z, but it looks ridiculous on the RX-8. Plus, it would of rubbed like noones buisness.

From the side, it looked good.

Then the ridiculousness started.

With someone sitting in the trunk. Yeah, the fender was resting on the tire.

Oh well, guess I will be looking for some 18x8.5 or 18x9 RPF1's.

10.5 is really pushing it with the 8 and not knowing the offset of the rim with that wide of tire was not a smart move on your part.

Good thing I was just test fitting and had no intentions of buying.

Yeah, definitely not for me. I am a firm believer on getting wheels that appropriately fit the car without having to stretch the tires (highly retarded), roll the fenders, and putting on crazy negative camber just to fit some wide wheels. I can go on and on about all the reasons why NOT to do any of that stuff.

^ lol if you believe that then why would you even think that these would fit on a stock 8? Those sp1's look like a Hyper Offset aka +12.

We were bored and decided to see what they would look like. It was more of a "hey lets do this for fun " thing.

This is from NUKEs turbo build thread.....guess it was 265 on 35 profile... but he still fit a 10.5 which are the PROFESSORS this guy is trying to fit... so IMO he should get the same tires.... and get them put on his 8....

looks beefy from behind. I don't think 295s would fit on our car. In this case, offset played a huge factor though. offset is everything.

265's would be pretty stretched, so I'm not going to do that. I already wrote these wheels off when I heard about them before I ever fitted them, when I was at my friends house this weekend, we decided to just try it out. I will probably end up doing a 18x9 with a 255 tire in the rear when I do end up buying some wheels. The RX-8 is definitely a lot different than what I am used to in the Z world. I had 17x9.5 +32 with 275 tires on the rear of my '93 300ZX and wasn't even close to having any problems.

It also looks like the car has no camber, get some, and pull all 4 corners.

pulling the fenders = fail.
the guy doesn't want to roll, why would he get them pulled?

18x10.5" +43 265/35/18, no fender roll. i could possibly go with 275's but i was worried about rubbing at first. i will likely get 275's when these wear out.

not really here's a pic of mine. keep in mind, mine are the same size all around too.
