Sorry to be stupid

I am looking for mods that won't compromise reliability. Bye the way, will the oil debate ever end. I see a lot of post with "clear corners", what are they. Appreciate any suggestions with respect to exhaust, rim size, etc. Thank you.

On the front driver and passenger side fenders there are amber colered side markers. Clear corners replace the amber colered markers with clear markers or corners. IMO they make the car look better

rjo007: Welcome to the club!

Don't worry about "being stupid", we welcome all questions but do keep in mind that almost all of these questions have already been answered.
I'd encourage you to take a look at the search option we have towards the Top Right of the page, it should help you find what you're looking for.

With that said, lets see if I can't help you out...

- Mods that won't compromise reliability: Exhaust, suspension, and intake are some of the most popular. If you drive a Manual Transmission, look into the Axial Flow Short Shifter, it's a phenomenal shifter that makes the car even more fun to drive. (it shortens the distance between gears, gives it a great 'bolt action rifle' feel to shifting.

The thing to remember with mods is that they won't add a lot of HP to our cars, but some can help the car in areas that are slightly lacking.
Getting more (cold) air into the engine is always a plus. Take a look at the Mazdaspeed intake / AEM intake (same thing) or the Racing Beat Intake (which is what I have)
- cooling can be an issue depending on where you live. If you live in a very hot area, I would highly recommend looking into Mazmart's new high flow water pump.

- Exhaust: they're all about the same, going to come down to Personal Taste. www.youtube.com has quite a few rx-8 exhaust clips.

As for oil: it'll never end but we are learning quite a bit on the subject with every passing day.

most bolt ons, ex. Exhaust, intake, etc will not give a whole lot of gains other than sound and maybe better throttle response. So keep that in mind. I'd recommend an exhaust though to really embrace the sound of the rotary

Totally agree. Nothing sounds quite like a rotary at wide open throttle with a decent catback exhaust.
