Hey all,

I haven't been here for about 2 years. I had an '04 Nordic Green Touring that I gave up for an '06 MX-5 Sport. To make a long story short, I miss the RX-8 and so does my wife, so probably within a week, I'll be back in a RX-8 again. I have my eye on a slightly used '07 GT, and may have found a buyer for the Miata.

The Miata has been great, but I miss the performance of the RX-8. I'm looking forward to rejoining the ranks!

Titanium Gray, black leather.

My '04 had a LOT of flooding problems. It never did it to me cold, always after having driven the car for 1/2 hour or more - wouldn't start the next morning. This happened about 8 times. Finally had enough. Seems like from all the reading I probably had an "unusual" car.

It also seems that there are many fewer people affected than there were at first. So I'm taking the plunge again. I love the way the car drives. The top down fun has been less fun than I expected, and my wife doesn't like the Miata much (actually not at all). She already wants to know when she can drive the new 8 :-)

Good decision to for the car choice. But not so sure about the depreciation hit on the miata. Personally after driving the rx-8, I find the mx-5's engine rather coarse and unrefined. I'm not much of a top down person though. I hate people running a box cutter on the top.

Well, I made a deal on a 2007 Ti Gray GT with only 3,500 miles on it. It was a lease buy back and looks new except for one scratch on the door. That's ok, my Miata had 3 scratches :-)

I'm in CT and found it in Mass. They'll be delivering the car down here Mon or Tues. Can't wait. When I took it for a test drive I suddenly remembered how smooth it is to drive.

Just picked up my almost new RX-8 this morning and got it registered. As I said this is my second - an -04, a 2 year fling with a MX-5 and now a 2007 with only 3800 miles. It looks new inside and out.

An added bonus I didn't notice since it was hidden by the owners manual folder.... there's an iPod connector on a long wire, tucked in the glove box. Sweet! It's a dock connector on a wire. Fiddling with it for 5 minutes it seems to cycle through playlists on the stereo - not sure of the correct buttons to use yet.

Nice nice car and glad to be back in the fold.

Welcome back.
I can certainly understand the temptation of the MX-5; I've owned three of 'em! I love my 8 but, on that first spring day or a balmy summer night, it's hard to resist a little top-down fun. Wish I could own both.

Both would be fun but we're paying for 2 daughters in college right now (2 years to go). The MX-5 was fun, but my wife really didn't like it at all. Too noisy - can't talk while we drive. Then I saw a review in the paper for the 40th Ann. edition and it started making me nostalgic for my previous RX-8. When I mentioned to my wife I was thinking of switching back she was all for it. I drove one again and realized all over what a great driving car it is.

Picked it up thursday. Friday I drove us to work - we work about 1/2 mile apart - and her first comment was "This is more like it".

I'm not sure what kind of iPod connection I have. It has a thick black wire with a dock connection on the end with a plastic protective cap. The logo (if it is one) on the connector is sort of a rectangle with rounded corners. In use, the ipod screen goes to "ok to disconnect". The disc up/down buttions seem to increment albums, and the seek up/down change songs. The display shows EX 3:10 3:15 where 3:15 would be the elapsed time. The 3:10 is 3rd album, 10th song. No text available and the album number recycles every 6. (So the 7th album would be 1 again). Does that give anyone any clue to what it is and any other hints on how to use it?)

Thanks.
Dave
