Talking Soon to be proud owner and engine question

Hello everyone,
I will soon be buying 2tone's RX8. It will be my first wankle and I have done much research on the forum and I have learned a lot. I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. Im a big gearhead. I currently have a 96 Mustang GT that I rebuilt the engine in. I baby my cars but also like to have fun with them. It seems that these RX8s are great and fun to drive. I tell you I got the fever when I drove one.

I Also have one question that maybe someone could answer for me. Has anyone tried to run motorhoney or stp oil treatment to thicken up the oil and get some extra lubrication on the apex seals or does it not burn and cause gunk?

Just go with a thicker oil in the first place so you at least know how thick it will be. I use 10w40 some people use 20w50, read up on oil on the forum there is lots of info for you to make a decision. Bare minimum I would go with 5w30 since thats what Mazda recommends in Japan and they changed it here for EPA reasons.

Motor honey just thickens the oil and I am guessing there is no way to tell what weight it actually becomes. That and when you do an oil change you only get around 60% of the old oil out so if you put new oil in + some more motor honey eventually its going to be way to thick. Thats what it seems like to me anyway.

It was changed for CAFE. EPA is just as much a victim on this as the rest of us.

@2Tone I'm definitely in love. You made a great looking and handling car. I have to admit it doesn't have the monsterous amount of torque Im used to but man it will handle corners and drive better than anything I've ever owned. Don't worry you couldn't have chose a better owner. Just if I can keep the dumb people in the apt complex away from her.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome. I never thought of myself as wankle owner but now I took that leap Im extremely happy.

dude that's awesome news! i hear you on the torque, but once you're away from your mustang for a while you'll forget about it and appreciate the high revs and incredible handling. if you can get the rears pulled out a bit or sell those and get 255's, you'll REALLY be able to push it in corners and it will get even better...email me or pm me anytime.
