Mechanic took customer's RX-8 without consent

So this just happened.

Seems like the owner is another goofball that doesn't know crap about RX-8. You need to drive the car hard!

That said, the mechanic is also an idiot for doing this.

This article made me **** my pants laughing!

Looks like the guy is looking for a free engine or rebuild. Complaining that the guy redlined his car? Well no wonder you need a rebuild buddy! Hahaj!

That IS amusing from a certain POV. Taking my 8 to the track is what I credit for its engine health. And, it's a good sign that his will still redline.

Still, dealership idiots joyriding in customer cars sucks big time. When I am forced to drop mine at the dealer for service, I always let the service writer see me take a photo of the odometer. Prior to doing that, I would have up to a 150 mile discrepancy at times.

I'd gladly take my car to the guy who redlines it. Instead I seem to keep getting guys who stall the damn thing out before moving 5 feet.

Red lining on the free way after warmed up...no problem...

Revving like mad in the garage while cold....nope.

My Midland mazda doesn't seem to drive the car, but are fascinated by the scanguage, and settings are different when I get back. Nothing drastic.

Local dealer saw the 'marbles' in my front fender pockets when I took it in for the MSP-16 ECU reflash, asked if I tracked the car. I admitted as much, the mechanic nodded his head and said, "It'll live longer that way", grinned and took it back to the bay.

Now, with the Pettit / Kenne Bell mashup under the hood, I don't think I'd take kindly to backroads joyrides by the wrench jockeys.
