Thanks for all the help. I'm going to invest in sway bars and shocks first, than tires, and than move to the acessport and shifter.

I only ask after I search, to be honest the search function on this forum leaves something to be desired.

No problem, glad I was able to help you understand how swaybars and endlinks work.

Alright, as of now, I'm getting tires first, than adjustable sway bars, than coilovers. Does this seem good?

Also, the insurance company asks weather a car has been modified. With these modifications how much can I expect my rates to climb?

If you want a great all-around summer performance tire, look at the Goodyear F1 GSD3. Good call on getting some good rubber to build from. Keep an eye on the for sale section, AFE shifter comes up every once in a while.

I expect nothing, as when they ask modifications they are expecting turbo/super charger I'm assuming. I don't know how tires/suspension mods would make you more dangers in driving.

Because they think that because I'm young and have a nice car, that automatically means I'm a street racing, hot *******, tokyo-drift fanboi who will use a modified car for nothing but being generally reckless and dangerous.

If I am not mistaken, some mods you do with the car can void your insurance. Depending on what company and such, just a heads up.

Spend half on the Enkei RP-F1s 18X9.95 wheels and 275/35-18 tires and put the other half in the bank for a rainy day.

My recommendation for wheels and tires as well. Then the little things, clear corners, rotary accents if it doesnt have them. At your age, Agreed, stay away from the exhaust or intake mods....Actually to my knowledge, they don't add that much HP, and there is much information to prove this to an insurance company should they ask. In most companies the 8 is classified as a 1.3L 2 cyl, 4 door sedan..A foglight rewire will get you Daytime running lights which will bring your insurance down as well. Your own personal driving record however will do more to keep your insurance cost down than anything.....If memory serves it has 9 airbags..just go over all the safety features and make sure your insurance company has every bit of this information. They can pull it up by the VIN sure, but your attempts to make sure they understand it is a very safe car, will help them to not be so ansty. Most insurance companies don't know that much about the rx8. They read all about its superior handling and all of that, but it is widely used as a family car because of the fact that the back seats are very accessible, and it is VERY safe...THe 50/50 weight distribution prevents an easy roll over, there are lots of things that put it favorable light on the car.

OR you could simply pay your insurance premiums up for a year...that way there are no worries..

If I ever go for horsepower mods I wouldn't bother with things like air filters, I would go straight for a ram air intake and a turbo, but again I'm not even considering those right now. I have an entirely new engine in mind that I hope to be swapping in within the next couple of years.

It's not the car that worries the insurance companies, its ME. The fact that I am a teenager puts up red flags already, not to mention the fact that I'm male which raises more red flags. They assume I drink and do drugs too. They did cut my rates for good grades though.
