So someone's been keying my car?
Alright so I'm a senior in high school. A bunch of people tell me they think I have (one of the) nicest cars in the parking lot. Recently I've been noticing scratches in places there shouldn't be and others that were never there before.
When I first got the car I went around it and I knew all the blemishes that were on it.
Now, there is a kid in my school who had a Red 2004 RX8 but crashed it, and his parents forced him to sell it. He found out I was getting an 8 and he instantly became pissed at me. When I drive into the parking lot in the mornings he usually gives me the finger and sometimes throws a blueberry or something at me(usually his morning breakfast).
Is it wrong for me to assume he's the one that's been keying me car? Any solutions to my problem? and yes I have been to the administration of my school and they tell me, "You park in the parking lot at your own risk, it is not our problem if your car is damaged in the process."

I'm also a senior in high school and I also park my 8 at school. It's not an easy thing to do.
I know that I'll eventually get a scratch or two during my year of parking here, but keying is definitely something that I know I can prevent. The key to not getting keyed (lol) is to have no enemies. While there are some people in high school that will key a car just to key it, most of the true ******** will only do so if you give them a reason to. Whoever this guy that throws stuff at you is, I'd really try to work things out with him. Don't get me wrong, he's being a ***** from what it sounds like, and decking him in the face would be the manly thing to do, but what would he and his friends think of you decking him in the face? Probably something along the lines of "Oh wow, now he's crossed the line. I'm going to key every single body piece on his car tomorrow."
So yeah, work things out with him. It'll cost you your *****, but it'll help protect your car. Another thing you should do is park as far away from the school as possible. People are less likely to "key a car just for the hell of it" if it's AAAALLLL THE WAY DOWN THERE! Not to mention, it'll keep your car away from other careless people walking to their own cars. All it really takes is a jacket's zipper to leave a nice little hairline scratch on your door.
Might want to avoid flashy mods, too. I dunno what you have on your car, but from what I've seen, the more "aftermarket" your car is, the more of a target it is.
Is this possible? How cool would it be to walk up to the guy that keyed your car and be like "Hey buddy, I've got proof of you keying my car. Pay for my damages, and lick my ***** in front of the class, while you're at it. Then maybe I'll get rid of this tape".

just beat his ***, and when the school administration complains tell them this.
Well You said you aren't responsible for things that happen in the parking lot, and that things are at your own risk there.
Or plan be is check the agreement you signed. Since its the schools property make sure there is a nothing in what you signed like a non liability clause. If there isn't then they are responisble to protect your car since its there private property.

School campuses are now some of the most surveiled areas in the world. I guarantee the school has video of that parking lot. Get them to cough up the tape and use that to force the kid to pay for a paint job.

I parked far away as possible with mine when I was in school. Do the same.
Only damage I ever incured in HS was getting my Tailight broken out, and the car was at a friends house. Jealousy makes people do stupid things.

is this guy fairly popular? ie; some football jock?
if so, talk to one of your friends of the femal persuasion (assuming you have some) and have her start a rumor that he has a small *****.

the way my school is set up is there are two lots. one has around 400 spots and the other has around 30. i park in the one with around 30 and i park next to a fence on the passenger side door. no one parks within 3 or 4 spots of me which i find kinda funny but it's great because i have no chance of door dings or backpacks rubbing up against it.
the school parking lot does not have cameras;
there is nothing in the school manual about the school being responsible for the parking lot;
i have no flashy mods on my car aside from my under-glow;
and the kid is just another spoiled kid who lives in New Jersey. his parents bought him a Mustang, he didn't like it and sold it, they bought him the 8, he crashed it and sold it, and now his parents bought him a new 2010 328i;
i'll post some pics of the scratches shortly.

ya im confused if your car was acctually keyed or just small blemishes.
my car was keyed and it was EXTREMELY OBVIOUS, it wasnt just some scratches. pics would def do some justice here.
if it was keyed.... that sucks, i take mine in on tuesday to get my keyed damage fixed ($1400 worth of it)

In texas this was uhm... 10 years ago or so... we had this book we had to sign at the start of every year. I know our school did not post or present anything when we got out spots that said they werent liable. I was able to get my at the time 1978 mercury cooger fixed at the schools expense.

Theres always dicks everywhere these days. Im in sort of the same situation but no really lol. This guy i know (i guess you can say hes a friend lol), is getting an rx8. Doesnt end there, hes getting the same colour as me. Like wtf i hate biters man !! Hoenstly it pisses me off.
In terms of your situation. Yea man best way not to get keyed is not have any enemies. Or in my case while i was in high school is to let them know not to **** around with you. People know not to mess with me cause ill seriously beat the living **** out of you lol.
Good luck bro.

holy ****... $1400 worth? i don't think mine are that bad... but then again some are deep others are light, i've been slowly noticing more and more scratches over the last few weeks so i think he's doing them in small amounts. i'm gonna take pictures after i do my oil/tranny/diff fluids tomorrow
it continues until about 2 inches from the headlight. this = $1400

haha? get the mazda car cover put it on your car before school haha itll atleast deter them......
i park at school and all my friends care for my car like i do they keep an eye out and i park beside two people who care about their cars too so i dont ding their doors they dont ding mine so it works out although at first i was weary of parking there but its fine now and i have my hd go pro where if something like this was happening i could suction cup it to my extremely tinted back window and let it run for 3-4 hours and hopefully get someone
but car cover seems like a good idea
