So if I HAVE to trade it in... tips?
Hello all
I recently put up my 2005 BB RX8 GT For sale in the classified section here:
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...77#post2391277
Pics a plenty - etc etc My reason for this post, if I get no bites on the car I will (reluctantly) trade it into a dealer for cash. My question is on the tradein value for our cars (i was looking at KBB and have a ballpark) but are there any tips one could give me?
Is it like a reverse negotiation for the buying of a car? Meaning if they lowball me (which everyone does) i can ask for a higher price till maybe we are both happy?
If i do go that route I need to spend a weekend or two taking as much custom stuff I can. I realize that aftermarket parts don't really do much for the value in resale, is there ANY wiggle room at all for negotiation to a dealer on a price seeing as how there will be about 2000 dollars in custom parts I can't remove due to time and labor costs? (suspension/audio mostly)
Like any sane person -- I just don't want to be bent over and raped by a dealer on a tradein. I know I wouldn't get as high of a price if I could wait 4 months to sell, but still I don't want to only walk away with them offering 10,000 dollars or something CRAZY like that.
Looking forward to your input.

yeah thats what I think I'm going to do -- if I can get 14 or 15 from a dealer... thats fine I guess. The parts I won't be able to return to stock are the mazdaspeed suspension and (depending on how much time I can devote to it) the audio system. I have all the parts for both -- its just jesus I'd have to tear apart the panels in the car again :-p
