Dealer told me to drop from 8-10 inches, and thats what I'm going to do.

Ali is easily damaged, dont push.

 

Considering the fact that we'll all be opening and closing our hood for oil checks, I thought knowing this would be important to the appearence of the car as well.

Drop it is! 6-8inches.... gotcha.

 

i take out my rules make sure its exaclty 6.35" high and let go..

 

I experimented with mine and it seems it closes with a 5 inch drop pretty easily

 

When I worked for Mazda we were instructed to always drop the hood on the 93 and later RX-7s. The 8's hood seems even lighter to me. I would definitely drop it.

 

I've been pushing mine closed. I tried dropping it, I think twice. Boink - shudder! Nah. I didn't like it. A gentle push with fingers splayed to spread-out the force worked much better. If you do it knowingly, I don't see how you could actually dent it.

I tell you what, I'm gonna try it again.

If Briney Spears can park her buns on the hood, with heels... :D

 

So how do we make this into a survey type thread? Because I'm really wondering what people do....

A) Drop and close
B) Push gently
C) Don't ever open, and wait till the Oil meter lights up then go to the shop?

I have to push mine.

Mine will not close when I drop it. Does anyone know how to adjust the hood latch assy.?
