Six Years Later
Ive had my 8 six years & 3 weeks. Im still in love with it, of course. But Im still amazed at the great comments I still get after all this time. Went to the Phillies' game today & the money-takers at the Linc lot asked me all kinds of questions about it & were saying how beautiful it is. In the humongous line to get out of the Linc lot, two other drivers yelled over to me the same kinds of comments (as well as "Get moving', buddy!"). I think if I had bought any other comparable car six years ago, I still wouldnt be getting compliments like I do. Or I'd have traded it in for something new by now.
Lots of guys & gals on here have had many complaints about our cars over these six years, but it's been the best car experience Ive had (and Im old enough to now be a grandfather, so Ive been through all kinds of cars).
Im sorry the 8 Era is coming to an end. I hope to still have it 16 years from now (by then my grandson will be driving).

Bob: Yes, same engine. I did flood it twice once in year two & once in year three. Basically stock except for tints & blue running lights. 70K miles. Not garage kept, but I do wash & wax it often.
Al: It will be like losing a friend when/if it has to go.

Yeah thats a pretty good story, mine is close I suppose.
When I was 13 ( im almost 18 now... lol, yes I know im young) my mother bought a RX-8 for pure looks (typical woman, sigh... which is why it was a base model AT with 16" rims). At anyrate I still remember the day she bought it, I was sitting in the manual RX-8 at the dealer. While waiting I was shifting through the gears without the clutch (oops, lol). Since the day she brought it home I have been amazed at how it looks and how sexy it was, only to realize a few years later how unique it was (Rotary engine).
When I turned 16 I was given that 8 as a hand me down. It had a decent amount of damage to the front and rear bumper (mother was a horrible driver and doesnt take care of her cars, needless to say I recieved a new engine from carbon buildup lol). I had that AT (which killed me because I wanted a MT) for a little over a year until I finally got my baby, Amanda. Shes a 05' Winning Blue GT Lets just say I couldnt be happier, I dont EVER plan to sell her. That 9,000RPM redline always feels like butter, theres nothing else like this car. Im going to keep her, shes going to be a collectors item sometime in the future haha.
