Sigh...I knew it
so i'll probably get flamed.
my mom asked me what I wanted for a car about 5 months ago (b4 i found the 8) and I said a mazda 6. Deal was that whatever she decided to pay, I would pay half of it. So, she bought me a NEW mazda6. And of course I was stoked, but I REALLY wanted an 8. Theres something inside of me yelling at me telling me to sell my new 6 and buy a used 8. I know it'd be stupid but i can't help it. It doesn't help when i see a beautiful galaxy grey speed up next to me at stoplights. What should I do? trick out my 6?
sorry if this offends you.

Enjoy the fact that your parents are helping you out. When you're out on your own paying your own rent/mortgage/insurance and have a good job then you can get the car you really want.

Where are you at? Maybe I'll trade you - or maybe not.
You will lose too much money on a trade in or by selling it so soon. Trick out your 6.

The rx-8 was my first car. It's been a lot of fun and I'm very grateful for the fact I have it. That being said, the mazda 6 is probably the better car for a first car and still a very nice car, especially for a first car. I would definitely hold onto the 6 a bit longer, see how you like it. It might grow on you more. Also, try reading up on aftermarket stuff for the 6. Not too sure how well it responds to bolt ons, but probably better than the 8. You wont be getting it on the same level as the 8, but modding can be fun even if it doesnt make it the best car.

Stick with the 6. After all, it is quite a nice ride itself.
Damn, my parents gave me my first vehicle and I didn't have to pay a dime for it. It was a 77 full size Chevy van with chrome wagon wheels! This was in 93 mind you. Yea, far from a glamorous ride but, she was my 400ci ride.

I would keep you'r new car for now. After all nothing like having a new car and that new car feeling. Then when Mazda whips out the new rotary engine trade lol

like others have said.. keep the 6.
also already mentioned, you would lose to much on the trade-in and would have to dump a lot of negative equity onto the new car. trick out the 6, they arent bad cars.

I just shat myself
The 8 is an expensive ride for a first car. You know that tires cost at least $700 right, and only Mazda service can really work on it right??
Just about everything is more expensive on an 8 than a family car like the 6..
On the other hand I think your mom's a bit crazy for getting you a new one if you're paying half. You could've got a used one with low miles for 30% less..
Hah, when I turned 16 neither my parents nor I could afford to buy me a car. I continued to ride the bus to school and eventually midway through 17 they went in 1/3rds on an 89 Mazda b2600i 4x4 with no AC. Enjoy your luxury man, trade up later with your own income like I did.. 89 Mazda pickup - 91 Camaro- 02 Silverado - 04 RX8 - (Coming soon: 02-05 Z06)...

The 6 is a really nice car, would be my choice among its competitors. I know it doesn't sound like you really into it, but you can make it your own. who knows you may like the results. I personally would get a decent set of wheels, tint the windows, lower it a bit to even it out and upgrade the audio. Enjoy your new car!

just keep the 6 man, as Ike said, when you make ur own mooney, then you buy a car you really like, unless your parents are crazy rich or insane, then just get what ever the hell you want

I had a BN RX-7 when I was 19 years old (paid for it myself). Spent an afternoon in jail because of that car and my own stupidity. Lucky for me the judge had that "boys will be boys" mentality and I got off with a $450 fine (this was in 1980) the impound fee on my 7, $75, and time served (a few hours). Had I been a resident of the state I got busted in, I would have lost my driver's license too.
By the grace of God I lived through some insane driving; by a hair's breadth I could have been a smear on a mountainside that day. I also endangered several other drivers on the road but at the time I wasn't thinking clearly at all.
In retrospect, a more sedate sedan might have saved me five bills...stick with the 6, it's a really nice car and you won't have as many Formula-One daydreams that may get you into trouble or kill you.
