CA Should I Wait?

Hey everyone. I don't have an RX-8 (yet). I'm trying to decide if I should wait and see if they come out with a 2010 model.

I'm looking for a new 2009, gray or black, Grand Touring with premium package and navigation system.

I found a white one and they were willing to sell it to me for $30,000 out-the-door. I later found out that it has 1,900 miles on it...how they are selling it for "new" I have no idea.

A different dealer has a gray one, exactly how I want it, and will sell it for $29,325 ($32,688) out the door. This doesn't seem like a good deal since he is including the $2500 Mazda cash-back in that price.

I guess what I am asking is: What do you guys think? Should I wait and see about the 2010s? If not, what do you think is a good price for a new '09 GT with navigation?

Thanks.

I don't think either of those are a good deal. Girl I know got an 09' GT with nav for like 26k out the door in Austin, Texas.

The highest I would pay is invoice - $2500.

Go to www.truecar.com

I'm assuming you meant $25,000?

According to truecar, the "Actual Dealer Cost" is $31,305. Is that the same thing as invoice?

you should be able to bring it close to the 26,000 out the door. When i got my Shinka brand new i got it down to 26k out the door. wait till beginning of next year when dealers are clearing out the 09 models, easier to haggle.

2010 RX8 is already out with no changes

http://www.classicmazdaofdenton.com/...carlisting.jsp

choose RX8 for the model and hit go and you will see a 2010

(note there are two options, choose the one without the dash)

to let you know, i paid 21k out the door for my brand new rx8 touring with 49 miles on it....just wait for a good deal. the dealership i bought it from closed down last year. recently, someone in sac paid 26k OTD for a r3. the dealerships you mentioned are trying to rip you off.

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep shopping around. The thing that sucks is that the car I want is pretty specific and there are only a small handful within like 300 miles of me.

So, if anyone knows of a gray or black '09 gt with navigation, let me know

Bad price. I wouldn't pay more than invoice than subtracting any rebates and such before tax.

we have one here in Fargo, ND for 26,XXX. It's a white GT w/o Nav.....about 300 miles on it i think. Would be worth the $300 flight if you were serious about buying an rx8.

Totally agree. One thing that is really shady is that every dealer I have called is including the $2500 Mazda cash back in their price. Isn't the rebate coming from mazda and not them? So it seems to me the prices they are quoting me should be with out the cash-back included. Am I wrong in thinking this?

Bunique, I would definitely consider it if it was gray or black and had a Nav

Hi there KrazyKarl,

That is a high price. Wait until winter and you will see the price go down, or the dealers being more willing to deal. Of course waiting could mean having someone else getting the car you want.

But if it's price you are wondering, I think you could do better if you wait only a few more months. Also-and it looks like you already did this- go to different Mazda dealers.

Good luck KK

The car was redesigned in 2009, so don't expect anything noteworthy for 2010.

Your best bet is to get a used one with low mileage and a good warranty or wait awhile and get a used 2009.

Yep. around here I always buy my new cars in deepest darkest Winter (end of Feb.), and the outgoing model year. Always great deals.

Alright. It will be hard, but I will try and wait until winter. I want an 8 soooo bad!
I already sold my car, but my grandma is super awesome and is letting me borrow her Toyota Avalon until I get a new car...I definitely feel like an old lady when driving it though...

if you have to have a specific color and have to have nav - you will pay more than you should but that's up to you. i'd personally keep my options more open but on the other hand, why settle for something less than you want if you're dropping that much money?

I don't really think you have to wait - just shop around and be really aggressive. Are you already qualified for a loan or paying cash?

Either way shoppers are in desperate demand at the moment.

Are you a Costco member? Try the Costco auto program and also find the Internet managers. Do not work with the average floor schmuck.

Get price quotes and then if you're not happy go back to them with what you want to pay and walk away if you don't want to pay it. Also end of the month is good. You're in Sacramento - you're within easy driving distance of SF Bay Area and other Central Valley dealers.

Trade in? Or selling old car on Craigslist?
