should i put the renesis engine in a porsche 944
That price should include installation. If not, go elsewhere. You can have a reman 13B engine for half that price. Of course, that's for a basic engine without the trimmings so maybe that isn't such a bad price. I would still expect that to include installation.
What do you want to do with it? The car was designed for the inline4 it came with. You'll likely mess up the dynamics of the car by putting in a Renesis, so you'll probably have to spend quite a bit on tuning the suspension to match the new powerplant.
You'll probably also need a new transmission (and a new tach) to keep up with 9000 RPMs. I doubt the existing transmission can handle the dramatically different character of the engine. Even if it can, the power curve of the Renesis and the existing transmission will be a mismatch resulting in a weird final powerband.

before we answer any more questions, we'll need that picture request fulfilled....
My first impulse on this was, "ABSOLUTELY NOT". BUT.... it might be an interesting project. Other then just to be different, any reason you want to do the swap?

P.S. Is that you??? *sigh* If so, "How you do'in?"
that is the price installed..with transmission.. i got the car for free ( just payed to tow it) it works fine.. looked like and rx7 in a way so i asked my rotary mechanic about putting one in..the car is beautifull re done red interior and suede dash black paint (needs repainting) and 100% dent/ding free...
My son is putting a Renesis in a 914. The motor cost $2200 but he had to pull it along with stripping out the wiring harness & ECM. He clipped about a dozen wires and snagged a few extra goodies like the go pedal switch.
The biggest challenge has been converting it to water cooled with cutting major holes in the front trunk area. Thats coming along pretty well although there has been some pretty intricate steel fab work to channel air from the radiators to exhaust through the front wheel wells without passing through the trunk. Lots of TIG welding with compound curves. Fenders are handmade steel flares.
Connecting the motor to the gearbox is the easy part. Will have to fab the adapter with a new starter mount and a bearing fork but thats later in the project. Currently he's fitting the heater core and new pedal assembly - Top mounted rather then bottom with a two Brembo master cylinders and a cockpit adjustable balance bar.
It will probably take him another year to finish the car but it's going to be pretty sweet.

Many a rotary has been mounted to a transaxle.

A company called Kennedy Engineering use to make adapters for many engines, including the rotary. Don't know if they still exist. Many rotarys were installed in dune buggies using their adapters. Biggest issue is that the rotary has the main shaft in the center of the engine. So, even with a special oil pan, is lower than the VW or Porsche engine and needs to be protected (even possible raising the rear vehicle height).
Just did a quick search. Found them. http://www.kennedyeng.com/
