Should I expect to pay for tire rotation?

I'm bringing my 8 in for an oil change this weekend and will ask the dealer to rotate the tires. Seeing as how I've always brought my 8 to them and given them stellar reviews, should I expect to be charged to rotate the tires (stock)? If so, how much?

thanks

That question should be asked of the dealership. It's hard for us to know how much free work they want to do for you. The one time I paid the dealer to do it I was charged 9.95

Time = money.

It takes time for the dealer to rotate your tires.

You should expect to be charged for it.

$10 sounds about right.

I'd expect to pay for it at the dealership. Unless you go to a specific tire place and buy tires from them and pay upfront for some kind of "free tire rotation and balancing for the life of the tires" program. It's a measly $10 at the dealership I go to so I always just tell them to do it with the oil change. Tires ain't cheap for the RX-8 after all.

Les Schwab will rotate your tires for free, but I don't think they're on East Coast.

just do it yourself. my work charges a full hour for a rotate and balance. half an hour for rotate. our shop labor rate is $100 per hour.

thanks...

If it's under $20 I'll do it there. Unfortunately, I live in the city and rotating my own tires is out of the question.

Update.

Well I brought my baby in for an oil change, tire rotation and to check a "ticking" coming from the passenger's side window. When I asked what the charge for the rotation was, he said 30 minutes labor...so $66 in total with the oil change. I handed him a mazdacare coupon for a Winter Service which included oil change, rotation and other safety checks for $39. So that's what I ended up paying. Also, the window regulator needs to be replaced and they didn't have one in stock (no big surprise).

AND....they put the car through a car wash (I forgot to tell them not to)....the wash managed to rip one of the front license plate bolts out and I didn't notice this until I got home. It appears that it stripped the nut inside the front fender and I can't get another 8mm to catch. Hopefully, they'll fix it for me...Do you think the OEM front license plate holder would be covered under warranty? One can only wish.

thanks all

i seriously doubt a car wash stripped a bolt. most likely the PDI tech fucked it up. they should replace it under warranty, or atleast tap the hole for you. atleast you got everything done for a decent price. make sure to give them a good score on their survey, that way they'll take care of you again.

My dealer has always done it for free. But I would pay $20 max if I had to.

I had my RX in for it's 7500 mile service at Putnam Mazda last week and they rotated the tires without even asking, it was included in the service.
