should i buy a wrecked rx8 ??

Ok i havnt been on here for awhile so i got rid of my rx8 this last summer do to being broke lol. now i have a new job and am doing great financially. So now i am looking at another rx8 but it have front end damage, need bumper, headlights and hood.

Its on 05 rx8 mica grey 80k miles fully loaded leather, nav, apearance package. The car is great condition besides the front. motor radiator everything is great.

Do yo think 5-6k is too much or just right for this car? I want something i can just buy cash and fix up. and this mazda fits in that catagory. it would cost me about 1500 to fix the damage myself.

So what do you guys think? too much too little?

any help would be great

thanks!

what type of damage is there?
Just because something looks fine, doesn't really mean it is

You need to have a certified body shop/collision person go over the car and make sure there is no hidden damage such as a bent or damaged frame that would have to be repaired. If the frame is straight and all the needed replacement parts are within your budget, there is one last thing you need to have done. That is a compression test on the engine to see what those 80k miles have done to it. An 05 is still under the Mazda 100,000 mile internal engine parts warranty for 2004-2008 RX8s. As long as the engine wasn't modified you should be covered for any internal engine woes.

If all this checks out then the price is ok. You will probably need new brakes and for sure new tires, if they haven't been replaced. Have a regular Mazda mechanic look over the working parts. Seems like a lot to do, but all this could save you from buying someone's problems.

I dont know how your coming up with 1500 to fix the car yourself.. assuming it is fully loaded it would have HID's, and those are about a grand each. there is $2000 already

close to $800 on mazdatrix each, without shipping. If you can find some on ebay that work good luck.

For something high mileage they are becoming pretty cheap to buy with no damage... I'd pay the extra $2k up front and buy one that's not damaged. Not cheap enough.

I'd offer $3500.

I dont see how this is a very good deal. Can't you get a fully working 04 or 05 with those miles for around 8-10k?

Just doesn't seem worth it to me unless you can get it for like 3k or something.

Don't forget also when/if you try to sell the car you will take a hit on the price you can get for it because it was in an accident.

Yea, if hes not willing to budge lower than 5k hes being unrealistic. Let us know how it goes.
