short shifters

Do you guys think that the aftermarket will make a short shifter that gives the RX-8 a more direct solid feel when shifting. Does anyone know if the clutch is like older RX-7 were you can change the slave clutch hose to stainless steel to get a firmer feel?

Dunno about everybody else, but I am pretty happy with the shifter. Not an S2000, but damn good compared to what else is out there.

We were hoping to have short shifters already, but they have been moved down the "development" ladder.

Mazda changed it substantially from earlier cars - which would not have been a major problem, except you can NOT buy the middle large white bushing nor the smaller one on the bottom of the lever --- they only come with a COMPLETE lever !!
The O.D. of the lower bushing is larger than any of the ones from ealier cars - so, at this time, we do not have a bushing available.

I've had mine apart a few times already.
We purchased a few levers, and are looking into alternate methods of creating a short shifter.
