Yep, the 05 Shinka came only in Black Cherry exterior, and a tan/Parchment leather interior.

The Black Cherry is most noticeable up close, but in that picture you'd be hard pressed to tell.

the listing says it's black, so it's not a shinka. or the color listed is wrong, and it is a shinka.

go see it.

I think they got the year wrong, not the color.

In 06 there was copper red, but there were also black and white shinkas too. That is definitely a shinka, you can tell my the interior seat color and the shinka logo is on the b-pillar.

If I was betting my money, that is an 06 black shinka w/ decent mileage and looks pretty clean. Decent price. I paid 17K for my 06 w/ 21K on the odo, I'd say test drive that one and if it looks good get it.

"Thank you for your inquiry on the 2005 Mazda RX-8. That vehicle is currently available for an immediate test drive. You are absolutely right! This vehicle has the Black Cherry Mica finish. However, due to the time of day that the pictures were taken, the color appears to look black."

Silly dealership, Trix are for kids!

But honestly, go see it in person.. It's a very distinct color when you see it up close.

shinka was an option package that could be added to any color so there are black shinkas out there as well as some Galaxy Greys (or was it Titanium Grey that year? anywho...), and a few other colors. i personally like the black cherry of 2005 best and then the copper red of 2006 next.

My boyfriend has an '05 Shinka, and the Black Cherry is amazing... sometimes it looks black, sometimes plum, and sometimes even like a deep golden brown! but always gorgeous It all depends on the lighting at the time.

This is a tad misleading. In '05 the Shinka was a single color. It also had a numbered plate to denote what what production build number it was.

In '06 you had the Shinka (Copper red) that didn't have the number plate and a "Shinka package" that could be added to Black, White and the gray of the year. The Shinka package gave you all the '06 Shinka options except the exterior paint color. Note also that a non-copper '06 Shinka still had the copper notes in the inerior since it was designed for the copper red.

Do all Shinkas have the Shinka logo on the driver side B-pillar? If so, then that's a pretty good way to determine it too, disregarding the Shinka B-pillar you can buy from Mazda.

Yes but that can be swapped out or added to a non-shinka without too much trouble. Best cues would be the partchment leather ('05), Sand leather/Alcantra inserts ('06), piano black accents and of course the 2 paint clolors that were exclusive to shinka.

Just bought the 05 shinka last night actually....lol. The black cherry mica paint is amazing. At night the thing looks pure glossy black and in the light it varies back and forth between plum/burgundy depending on the angle.

Nothing but good things to say about this car so far, to be fair though, it is my first 8, so we'll see how the other 364 days of this year go....especially if we get a rough PA winter next year...bleh.

there's nothing to worry about in the winter. just make sure you get some winter tires and you're good to go. the easiest way is to get some cheap wheels to put them on and you can do the swap yourself each season.

Hey Failsafe, welcome! Wow, another Black Cherry in our midst... I think that's six now in our area! You should come to our sushi meet this Friday outside Philly, look for the thread in the NE section. I'll park my VRed between you and my boyfriend's Black Cherry, it'll look cool! lol

Shinka's suck! lol

I love that the copper red stitching in the parchment leather seat it is such a nice touch.

Philadelphia: Slowly working its way to 2,150.

I had no idea there were that many around here lol, I barely ever see any 8's here in general and honestly, I'd never even seen an 05 shink in person until I went and bought this one. Crazy. I'm just outside philly in Bucks/Montco (huntingdon valley area). Where are the rest of them at?

mmmm. sushi.

I'd like to, though the more dire issue for me at the moment is that this is my first manual (Go on..laugh....I know...), so I'm desperately trying not to kill small children, animals and crossing guards on necessary trips like driving to work before I worry about driving to meet people with good taste in vehicles and stuff my face with raw fish, wonderful as it may be. I apologize in advance for anyone that had to witness/experience the tragic spectacle that was me driving to Jenkintown this morning.

Yup, I absolutely love the color. In the dark it looks jet black, in the sunlight it becomes a vibrant purple, or even a reddish color... such a fascinating color. I love the Copper Red too, but Black Cherry Mica is my favorite.
