From my research looks like Shinka/SE has a lower resale value against a 'cheaper' MSRP GT version. Could it be the funky interior designs that appeal to some and not the general public?

Oh this is for the CDN market using the industry Black Book values.

 

Black book is a good guide. It's all supply and demand. Since the supply is high on GT's, and Low on Shinka's you MUST conclude that the demand is lower on Shinka's then GT's for their value to be lower. I would imagine it has a lot to do with the '05's odd color moreso then the '06's colors. I would be the gap disappears for '06 models.

 

Well not really a fan of that copper red colour of the shinka...I would have gotten that cuz I like the interior.

 

the 06 shinkas came in a few different colors. black, copper red, and i think titanium gray. i have a brilliant black shinka

 

actually i am a fan of the 06 Shinkas and would've snagged possibly the last 06 model in BC if the dealership would budge on the price. They want full MSRP on it. And this was in early 2007.

 

The '06's also came in white.

When I went searching my ideal RX8's, in order were Copper Red, White, and Black Shinkas, but I ended up not finding any that day. I'm happy with my Tit Grey Touring '05 though....

 

Not in Canada...I asked the sales guy if it came in a different colour and he said only in copper red. If it came in TG I would have gotten that.
