A friend sent me this link to an e-bay auction by a dealer - in it the auction claims:

"You may not know that the projected number of 2,150 units has been cut short because of damage to the Shinka plant in Japan. That number has been lowered to roughly 670 completed units. "

Can anyone confirm this from a Mazda source? I have a vested interest in hoping that Shinkas are very rare.

On the resale front all cars are subject to supply and demand - it would seem that in '04 Mazda overestimated the market and had to give a bunch of rebates to clear out inventory at year end, hopefully lower production in '05 will help resale value out.

I am also have a vested interest in this. I heard rumors awhile back that mazda had a fire at the RX-8 plant and the Shinka numbers might get reduced. I never could confirm...

why the big deal over the shinka? what is the differents,really? does the production numbers mean that its going to be the next delorean,vintage shelby,
or maybe the astin martin vanquish? I like my rx8 but the shinka is getting too much hype .

 

I personally have one because of the interior. I do not think they are getting to much hype, just the normal hype any car manufacture puts out when they release a limited production car.

 

My interest is not vested....but I hope you're right .
