UK She was in pain

Hi Guys,

New to this and have used the information posted on various issues over the last 2 weeks to fantastic effect.

Just unlucky that all problems seemed to come at once!!

Have had the 04 8 for 3 years - 38k on clock - standard car - no mods, no problems at all up until 2 weeks ago, started with CEL - went for diagnosis and found problem to be 'random misfire' - changed Coils, Leads and Plugs - as per info on various threads - thanks to all who contributed.

Then 2 days after CEL again - back for diagnosis - new fault - HS02 bank 2 - new 02 sensor.

Now i know that parts for the 8 are expensive - but christ - bearing in mind this is the UK, and i wanted the 8 back on the road.

4 x NGK Plugs (2 leading and 2 trailing)- £123 from Dealer!!!!!! - Got them for £88
4 X Coils - £380 from Stealer!!!! - Traced an 06 Salvage and had coils checked and collected for £90
02 sensor from same salvage - £45 - Please sit down - £395 from Stealership (thanks guys - great term - well used and now appreciated)

Will save a bit of cash and order parts from US - your prices are so cheap!

Then as i thought all was sorted - strange flashing display on radio - AC turning itself on down - found that pushing centre of unit under CD slot brought everything back to normal, read a couple of good threads and removed HU myself - took faceplate off and found nothing - put it all back togther - re-fitted and hey presto - no more problems - must have been loose connection.

She is running better than ever.

Thanks again for all your useful help and if my problems can help anyone else - then hey thats great.

And that, gentlemen, is how you "do it".

I wish everybody had the intitiative you have. Fixed your problems using information on the forums and didn't let the stealership rip you off on parts.

Bravo.

Welcome and glad you got eveything sorted!

Yes, we have some great vendors here, and advice aplenty!

The best tool for a DIY guy is a code reader (must read the CANBUS protocol) then you're set.

Whatever comes up, we have a code list and a DIY section that should handle it.
