Flawless - Is there a little cratering on the glass in the red circle? This really looks like a pellet shot. They are soft lead and break when they hit sometimes. The two marks on the metal are ricochets of pieces. (It might actually have gone the other way, its hard to tell without knowing the possible angles.) Also, it looks like there is a major horizontal crack coming out from the red circled area. Is that real? That sort of line would be another indicator of a pellet or relatively small object striking at high speed.

Yes thats a real horizontal line. If you looks at the glass (in person) you can see a whole bunch of horizontal lines from where the heat defrosters are. Looks as thought they caused the glass to split in certain regions.

The rear window of my VW Rabbit back in the 80s shattered suddenly, but it was 1 minute after a drive-in carwash, and I noted I accidentally had my rear window defroster on. I still initially thought someone shot it. Anyone heard of a window breaking from a carwash?

Stupid punks. That makes me mad to see that.

With my first RX-7, I was visiting my parents and some punk neighbor kid near my parent's house hit the back window with a wrench. Looked just like your window. I couldn't prove that he did it. Mean people s*ck.

my friends old integra's front windshield cracked in a car wash. one of those high powered ones at a gas station. you hear a loud "pop" and the whole thing frosts over - kinda cool. of course, his car was a beater and the windshield already had several rather long cracks running in it.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I've never heard of anything like that happening. I guess I've been lucky all these years racing over speed bumps in my cars. I'm taking it a little bit slower in the 8, don't want to scrape any of the pretty appearance package parts. :D

Well the subject says it all...

Last night I was leaving a friends when my back tire went over the curb between the edge of the sidewalk and the street. It didn't seem to hit very hard. I started heading towards home when I saw the rear winshield looked like it had water drops all over it. When the wern't going away I started to wonder what it was. After a while it came to me that it might be broken. So when I got home I looked... and surely enough it was.

I didn't think that going over a bump the size I did would brake the whole window.... I've even gone over a few speed bumps harder than I hit that curb it the window was ok. I am very lucky that I had that window tinted because that's about all thats holding those pieces from falling ALL in the back seat of my car. Thank goodness it didn't fall in while I was driving.

So anyways I'm going to call up the dealer in the morning and see what / if anything they can do. I'll post a few pics below to show what the window looks like.
How hot was it? If u left your car for a while in teh sun with no windows open your windows can blowout. It happened to my mom In nj a couple of years ago. When ever i leave my car for a long period of time i crack a window. The the reason the glass didnt shatter was because you have tints.

Well anyway goodluck in the future. Also when they replace the window make sure they seal it the right way. My freind has a honda accord and his back window was replaced, so everytime it rains he has a pool in his trunk.
