Shaking hood?

Had the 8 up to about 110 yesterday on the highway and I swear that hood was gonna fly off. It was shaking kind of like it wasn't closed all the way. We pulled over and it was.... hubby has had the car that fast before and doesn't recall it doing that. Anyone else experienced this?

Ive never seen it shake while driving it on the highway. but when I take it through the wash, it shakes quite a bit during the air drying part. Maybe its normal???

Ummm, isn't going 110 on the highway against the law? Aren't you threatening the lives of fellow motorists?

I just wanted to be the first one to admonish you.

I've had that problem at high speeds as well. Scared the crap out of me but the hood was closed. I don't think it belies any problems just airflow creating low pressure over the hood and pulling it up. At speeds of 110 I think this would happen on most cars that I can think of. If it really bothers you, look into a carbon fiber hood.

Wouldn't you still have the same exact aero problems even with a CF hood? I'd imagine that if the stock hood's moving up and down at those speeds, a lighter CF hood is only going to make the problem more pronounced.

Should prolly cut some gill slits in the hood to reduce the pressure difference. Make sure you post a picture after you cut holes in it for all of us to see.

Despite the fact that a carbon fiber hood is lighter, it is stornger due to the interlaying of fibers and the material. Our stock hoods are essentially stamped metal.

I was over 110 on the track and never experienced that. None of the other 8's at the track mentioned anything like that.

Question: Do you have the air dam from the appearance package? I wonder if it was aerodynamics causing it. (I have the air dam, and I'm considering a body kit for aerodynamic reasons.)
