Like I said, I don't kid myself about how "health unfriendly" these cars are, but you you are.
Go drive a diesel....oh wait, that's bad too, hmmm, I guess electric....wait, you need solar power to be "better", I guess you need to be off the grid, lol

I stop here, you brought up environment issues first, maybe read your own posts.

As for EV, I do happen to live in a province where we generate our electricity with hydroelectricity, so it's actually better for the environment at where I live.

But we are derailing, aren't we?

I live in a place where we make hydroelectricity just to send it to NYC.....

Correct. My R3 has a pretty late production date and had B coils on it when I got it.

My 2011 had B coils as well. Rotor 1 trailing coil failed before I reached 20K miles.

As for the cat discussion, I tried to go catless for about a year. I and the people in my sphere (home, work, friends, etc.) could not abide the stench. I put a HJS cat on it.

Yikes!

Correct. Which is exactly why I find it so insane that anyone would think making it 10 times worse is okay.

With the cat, the RX-8's biggest emissions problem is CO2. Annoying, and bad for global warming, but not too harmful to people. Without the cat, the car chucks out a shitload more NOx, CO, and hydrocarbons. MUCH worse. Those are not comparable scenarios.

IamFodi, just know that, believe it or not, you’re not the only person on this forum who wouldn’t dream of messing with the catalytic converter. As you wisely point out, people do breathe the air that comes out of our cars, and often what’s better for everyone trumps what’s better for ourselves - a fact lost on more and more people every year. If and when my cat fails, I’ll promptly replace it with a new one. Personally, I don’t need a car; it’s an indulgence for me. But I don’t drive it much (41K miles in 11 1/2 years) and my other vehicles are 3 bicycles and the NYC subway. So cheers to you. :beerchug:

Doesn't New York have very high emission standards?

And good public transit systems found in big cities are awesome, but then there is the crappy bus system we have in Victoria that makes you want to buy a car.
