Hello -

After putting off the replacement of my ride's head unit for some time, it has come to the point of being inevitable. The Nav disc does not read, and the display requests taking it in for service (I can't remember the exact text, but that's the message). Stereo still functions, but without the display you can't access some functions.

I could either go all-out with a new touchscreen based unit with navigation and rear camera and whathaveyas, but what I'd really like is to replace the unit with a stock non-display one. There's always Google Maps and Waze.

That said:
1. Would a Series 1 Bose unit physically fit into a Series 2 car? Mine's a 2009.
2. Would it be simply plug-and-play? I'm still looking for info on whether the wiring changes from one series to the other, not to mention going from Bose Nav to Bose non-Nav. I don't care about a multi-disc unit, if that is another consideration; I plug in my phone to listen to music.
