Security Lights not working with Keyless remote

Strangely, I've noticed over the last week that when I lock or unlock my car, the lights are no longer flashing.

The headlights still work.

The car still locks and unlocks like it should...

It just isn't flashing. It's fairly annoying since I got used to it being an indicator that yes, I had indeed locked the car without enduring a full blast from the horn with the second click.

Anyone know if this is a simple fix, or do I have to take it to the dealer?

short version- close your trunk.

long version- the flashing lights indicate that the car has armed the alarm. if one of the doors or the trunk is not shut all the way the other doors will lock but the alarm will not arm so you dont get the flash. thats the cars way of telling you to check for an open door or trunk lid.

other replies surely to follow-
1. read your manual
2. search for flashing

It does this with my hood also and my dealer told me that the "shock sensor" for sale on Mazda's website for roughly $50 is not a shock sensor but just a hood sensor....So I have no idea (but I have little reason to trust him after bad experiences) if he is right or not but my car is equipped with some sort of hood sensor that will prevent lights flashing until it is latched.

I was wondering this same thing myself, haven't seen this in the manual. Just the other day I was grumbling that something must be wrong w/my car already. :D

Thanks for having the ***** to ask the question, lol

shock sensor?? is a hood sensor?? I'm not sure about that, when i first got my car the damn alarm kept going off because it was set to high. When it's set at the highest setting just a light bump on the car sets off the horn.. if i'm incorrect let me know
