So the check engine light came on after the shop put in my new tranny and exedy clutch and i took it to autozone and advanced auto parts and they BOTH couldn't find the plug where they plug the scan tool in...they looked pretty much everywhere...i assumed it would be under the dash drivers side...anybody know?

The ODB-II port? Under the dash on the left side of the steering wheel, near the fuse box.

 

Yep up under the steering wheel...uh pretty damn simple to find...I mean as long as you have eyes and are not blind....but there are some idiots that work at those places that probably don't even know what a car is...so I don't doubt it!
