Got rid of my '04 and am going to wait for the '09 R3 to come out. So until then I will stop by to stay updated on things.

No it's a package on the updated RX-8. The '93 RX-7 had a performance package called the R1. People complained that it rode too rough since they were too wussie to realize a sports ar should first and foremost be a performance machine. In response to this for '94-'95 they softened it up a little bit and renamed the package the R2. Now we have the RX-8 and the equivalent is the next number in succession which makes it the R3.
