Sad RX-8

At lunch I walked over and checked out a Ti RX-8 in a local parking lot, after I saw a young lady park and walk away from it. It was a GT with an automatic, and inside I saw she had put a mouse fur cover on the dashboard and a Betty Boop rubber grippy cover on the steering wheel. The car was filthy, and bird crap was all over the hood.

I feel for that 8. Maybe it'll show it doesn't like being treated that way and lower her mpg.

OMG. That would make me sick, but the RX-8 is just another sexy looking car to some people. Those types don't really appreciate what they're driving. Probably a leaser. No ownership pride. Maybe you should spend some time educating her?

Reminds me of some of those jokes in the Air Force about maintenance reports:

Problem - Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.
Solution - Almost replaced left inside main tire.

Problem - Test flight OK, except autoland very rough.
Solution - Autoland not installed on this aircraft.

Problem - No. 2 propeller seeping prop fluid.
Solution - No. 2 propeller seepage normal. Nos. 1, 3 and 4 propellers lack normal seepage.

Problem - Something loose in cockpit.
Solution - Something tightened in cockpit.

Problem - Dead bugs on windshield.
Solution - Live bugs on backorder.

Problem - Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200-fpm descent.
Solution - Cannot reproduce problem on ground.

Problem - Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.
Solution - Evidence removed.

Problem - DME volume unbelievably loud.
Solution - Volume set to more believable level.

Problem - Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.
Solution - That's what they are there for!

Problem - IFF inoperative.
Solution - IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.

Problem - Suspected crack in windscreen.
Solution - Suspect you're right.

Problem - Number 3 engine missing.
Solution - Engine found on right wing after brief search.

Problem - Aircraft handles funny.
Solution - Aircraft warned to "Straighten up, Fly Right, and Be Serious."

Problem - Target radar hums.
Solution - Reprogrammed target radar with words.

Problem - Mouse in cockpit.
Solution - Cat installed.

(Note: Recent urban legend says these are from Quantas, but they've been passed around in the Air Force for years.)

My 8 treated me poorly today.

I drove past a Mercedes dealer (the one I goto for my car service) and saw this absolutely sexy SLK 55 sitting outside. I snapped my head around to look at it before I pulled into the gas station. I also have not washed my sweet lil girl in 2 weeks. I goto the pump, expecting to put 11 gallons of fuel in... no. 13!!! I went from almost 19 (18.5 on avg) mpg to 16.2!!! I tucked her in real nice tonite and plan on cleaning her tomorrow. I also swore I would NEVER look at another car in that manner ever again.
