rx8strakes.com?
anyone use these guys before? they are supposedly better because they are plastic (which won't rust) but i'm curious if they are quality pieces or garbage, because they look killer. so do the aluminum vents.

Do a search for Howard's fender strakes. He usually sells some on Ebay and even has a website. He sells them in stainless steel, instead of that aluminum crap Mazda sells.

I purchased strakes from them. They are a good product they use several coats of paint and my silver strakes matched up perfectly with my SS. It depends on what you want. If you want to color match strakes to the color of your 8 or contrast the color (like black against your paint). There was a little issue about the upper strakes not aligning in a few instances that they figured out and fixed. Mine were a little off but sanding the alignment peg was all I needed to fix. I like them, they did run a special price for us a while back.

Everyone here is off topic except SilverStreak. The rx8strakes.com are the ones that come painted. A guy named Howard from the UK sells stainless steal strakes on ebay.
I got the silver painted strakes to go with my VR about half a year ago. They look nice, but then once I started going to meets, the 8s with the metal strakes looked twice as good. Also, my upper strakes wouldn't align right, I had to experiment with different screws and screwheads to make it look more aligned. Also, I've noticed the paint on them is starting to wear away, and there's some chips too. I wish I invested in Howard's strakes instead, even if they are a little more expensive.

I bought my strakes from rx8strakes.com last December. They still match great with my Ti. Grey, with no worn paint or chips. If you decide to get them, you will have to file off one of the pegs and find some star-shaped lock washers so the upper ones will align right.

I have the rx8strakes silver strakes on my velocity red. I am very happy with the fit and finish of the product. If you look through their website under photos you will see my car. I would highly recommend them.

I too have RX8Strakes on my Shinka. Perfectly color matched, excellent packaging (including a srewdriver), and thorough directions. Mine came with dual pins to assure proper alignment and all necessary washers, etc. Best of all, the price was faaaar lower than Mazda. I also have their gas cap holder.

Same here. Stainless - cheaper, hardier and probably a nicer shine. Though in any color except the BB, I think the colored matched strakes are really nice looking.

Stainless steel would look pretty nice with your white water pearl.
I lucked out and got mine from a fellow forum member but I would check out Mazdaparts.com or Mazdatrix. Both are forum vendors...

At some point, I'm thinking of getting the winning blue strakes to go with my 8. I like the color-coordinated look. I think silver would look fine, too, if it matches the rotary emblems in the seats, front, and rear. My concern wtih the stainless steel is that it wouldn't match those emblems, so everything else on the car will be blue or silver with the strakes the only stainless steel on the car (except for the Mazda emblem, which has the shiny metal look).

^ You won't notice any difference between 'shades' of aluminum vs. stainless. imo, the colored matched offsets the black side vent nicely, again, unless it's the BB.
Easy - Those white matched strakes look great, but a pic from slightly higher up might make the color match more obvious.
