i just get tired of this kinda stuff, sorry if I come off as an ***-hat.....

i see this stuff all the time, I am a regular reader of about 15 differnt forums....I skim thru and normaly ignor this kinda stuff, but I just thought I would post that I thought.

I think its kinda crazy, all the time, on all differnt forums people ask post stuff like "My dad says all import cars are slow and that a v8 american car will always be the fastest car around if you do the same stuff to them" or "My friend says that his G35 is the fastest car with maxi-pads in the trunk, is that true or can my rx8 beat him"

to me its all the same stuff, people asking these kinda questions get old. Im sorry, go out to a track and see whats faster (although with normal dirvers that might not get 100% out of a car it comes down to luck or talent or both) or tell your ignor it.....

this all boils down to (IMO) "my dick is bigger than yours" and it just gets kinda old...sorry

*** and to the above statement about maxi-pads in a g35, its true, the first aid kit in the g35 (coupe only) has maxi-pads in it.....i just always thought that was interesting and thoughtful on nissans part ***

I agree. Anyone's game. That's mainly because there are so many factors involved - such as how you "set up" your car and how well you drive.

Last autocross event, I witnessed a B Stock RX-8 beat a Super Stock Lotus Elise by almost 1/2 a second on a 45 second track.

If you look at their "road and track" or "car and driver" times, you would never have guessed it. But I guess it came down to tires and driver.

If you want to know stright line times, you can just check the net or any popular car magazine. If you want to know which one is faster - take it to the track.

The Lotus should have faster acceleration and more lateral Gs. So why was it slower?

Man, V6 Mustangs are pretty slow. I know bolt on ZX2s that can beat them without problems in a line.

They are slow......but can be modified for very little $$$. I know a guy with a 2003 Mustang V6 that is supercharged along with some other goodies and that car is pretty damn fast now......definitely faster than a stock V8 Mustang.

I think it's all about one's plans for the car they get. We've already seen that it take major $$$ to get any significant gains from the RX8. The Mustang is very inexpensive to mod......not sure about the Maxima.

I don't think that N is a word.

LoL. Old Mustangs have something like a 2.7X final drive. Take that into consideration. That's why they are pretty slow off the line, but once you get up in speed, they will be one or two gears below you, and will continue to pull.

I don't care if it is faster. I just feel sorry for whoever has to wake up everyday knowing they drive V6 Mustang.

LOL So very true. I wouldn't buy a 'Stang in the first place, but to get a V6??? I know the '05s are a lot better than previous years, but still.

I knew a guy that had a '98 or something ATX V6 Stang. My ATX ZX2 with horrid gearing pulled a lot harder. Of course he had a lot of audio in there too, which didn't help.

But whatever, some people like Mustangs a lot. I have a feeling a lot of people on this forum don't, which is understandable. I figure that if they like it, who cares right?

I have no doubt you may have been able to hang with a 1995 Mustang GT......but no way with a 2005. The 2005 will leave the RX8 waay behind it in every straight-line situation. Don't use your very limited experience on a public road as a true indication of a cars ability.

Saying that the rx8 is poor in the straight line is a stupid quote, yeah its not the fastest but I have beaten a lot of cars at the track. I have beaten a saturn redline, v6 mustang, eclipse gst, dakota rt, and a whole bunch more that I can't remember right now.

Friend of mine owns an 06 Maxima and let's just say we're pretty much even from a dead stop. However I tried to pass him once on the highway when we were both doing about 50 mph...and I couldn't get in front of him.

The Maxima has bigger doors too. No telling how fast it would go with little RX-8 doors.

The new Maximas are heavy(3450+/-), a bit underated too,but when dyno'd there putting out about 270HP to the wheels, even though they claim to be putting out 260 crank HP.Seen the lowest time for them anywhere from mid 14's to mid 15's in the 1/4 mile. The 02'/03' Maximas, the fastest out of all the generations are overated. Actually Nissan screwed up , and flip flop the HP/TRQ (255/245)figures for the car. On the dyno a stock Maxima is putting out 205WHP -212WHP which relates to about 240ish HP. The car puts out 220-225 WTRQ. Mated to a body weight of 3200+/-, = a pretty capable sports sedan that can shame high powered 4 cylinders, peppy 6 cylinders and flat out embaress some V8 variants. Stock 02/03 Maximas have pulled as low as 14.3 to as high as 14.8 Stock , 6 speed and auto.

So if your in a RX-8 , you better be bring your A-GAME or else you will be seeing tailights. I should know, i use to do it all the time to the RX-8 guys in my 2k2 Maxima.....hehehe
