Rx8 vs Deer

So I decided to take my 8 to work today so that during lunch I could go out and hit this nice backwoods-ish road that I've been wanting to try.

You all know how I feel about my car, so I'll leave the poetry out of this one.
Long story short, I come up on a deer about a half mile away; I count myself fortunate because most don't see them until their about 5 feet away.

Anyway, I slow down and eventually come to a stop for the thing, who apparently decided it was time to walk to the center of the road and completley halt herself.

Because I couldn't get around her, I honked the horn....nothing. Not even a look.

So I go the alternate route, and rev my 8 up to 9k!

She got out of there like a bat 'outta hell!

Rx8-1, deer-0

Anyway, I think this must be one of the "special powers" of the 8, anyone else experience anything like this?

haha!! LOVE IT!
We don't get a whole lot of deer out in my neck of the woods but I'll have to keep this in mind should I ever come nose-to-nose with one.

Oh, and I'm SO glad there weren't any pictures of a mangled RX-8 in this thread. (I was preparing for the worst when I saw the title)

Some deer are practically tame nowadays. This kind of behavior is more prevalent during cold weather too.

So did I ^^

I did that as well when some deer where passing in front of me but my exhaust is louder than my horn.

So I thought it was because of that.

Wish they would've equiped the RX-7's with this feature.

Several years back I was driving through my neighborhood and saw some deer on the right side of the road. I rolled by really slow and thought "holy CRAP they're letting me get close!"

Next thing I know the male deer on the LEFT side of the road charges at the car head first, comes through the drivers' side window, and headbutts me in the jaw, sending my face into the passenger seat.
Disoriented as all hell, I sit back up as quickly as I can (at first I thought "carjacking" - I never saw the deer on the other side of the road!) I look out the window just in time to see deer #2 smash my face with his head.
Barely conscious, half in the passenger seat, I floor the sumbitch with my head tucked down until I feel myself driving through my neighbor's shrubbery. Bambi and his brother fucked up my jaw, teeth, nose, window, and door like nobody's business!

RX7 0, Deer 2

The rotary definitely scares horses.

Going for a cruise with some piston engined sports cars through some rural roads ...

Coming out of a corner, the horses near a fence didn't pay any attention to various v8s and turbos, but when I came through, they all bolted ...

( I had a customer 3" cat back, but then again, all the other cars had various exhaust mods as well )

Rotary engines probably emit frequencies inaudible to us that frighten animals. Animals are probably immune to piston engine sounds by now. Hahaha.

Good story. Lightning McQueen style.

maybe the other deer bet that he couldn't get you to stop, then he proved those f*ckers wrong and won the bet.

Ouch to say the least!

Perhaps deer hate the seven, and fear the eight, we should team up.

ha, can you picture it?

Rx 7 sitting alone in a clearing as bait, deer start surrounding it, all of a sudden an 8 comes from the folliage and they both start doing donuts like crazy. This would scare the deer into a mass hysteria, causing most of them to bolt wildly into pre-set traps.

Hunting, Rotary style!

I find it amusing that you take it so seriously. Hahaha!
Besides, how do you know for a fact it doesn't? You're not a deer... or are you? Hahaha!

I'm pretty sure the deer won't be Five-Starring any sub-40 crash tests...

...but I would REALLY like to see a video of the front, rear, & side collision results...

How about fuel economy? Deer fuel is cheaper but you have to fill it at least twice a day.
