There is an hybrid RX-8 coming out soon, and shortly thereafter, a 30-40 mile EV only RX-8 that thereafter transitions to flux capacitor/Hadron Collider/Class 0.5 Hyperdrive motor.

In normal driving, which for me is about 40% highway/60% city, I get an absolutely consistent 283 miles to the tank in mt 6MT, which for me = 13.48 gallons.

Keep in mind that this is not tracking the car on a closed course, but not excessively babying it, either.

So, I get a consistent 21 mpg.

I must be one of the lucky ones.

If I get on it all the time, beep beeping the night away, that drops to about 220 miles to the tank. But that's really revving it always.

Im with RotoRocket, i rarely get under 20 mpg average is 23. I mostly drive highway. I use 93 octane gas also. So expect to pay more for premium that is usually .20 more than your unleaded. Definitely not the best mpg car, but its a love hate relationship ask any one that owns a RX-8.

But unless the "many people" you are talking to are giving you actual numbers from actual RX-8s, then simply ignore them. We posted ACTUAL MPG numbers above. If you want to look up what "a V6" does on gas consumption, feel free. "A V6" is incredibly ambiguous, since there were V6s that did single digit MPG, there is race V6s that still do. There are V6s all over the range.

So the short answer is yeah, we get better gas mileage than a V6 Formula car, but worse than a V6 economy car. THAT part you have to look up for yourself depending on what you have in mind.

We posted ACTUAL mpg numbers for you to read. If you decide not to read them, that's a personal problem on your end, and you aren't going to get much more help from us on that topic.

Look how long your first post with all the info is. It was easy for me to infer that the OP is young and/or dumb, possibly both. Do you really think such a combination is going to be motivated to read with any attention to detail? I already knew jaimbot would not read it.

Hell, we got all those "veterans" making a debacle out of that NGK spark plug wires thread BECAUSE they were too lazy or inept to read every word of every post and make a real effort to try to understand what I was saying and instead putting me down.

What are the chances this new dummy is going to make the effort to read everything he needs to?

For us, it has the SAME Gas milage as our SUV - 07 mitsubishi endeavor. sometimes if my husbands driving my rx8, the SUV gets better gas mileage.

If your that serious about MPG, go buy a ******* prius!

You mean the tip to read what we wrote and apply it to whatever car you were comparing it to?

Your welcome.
