Gosh Idiot I swear. I sometimes don't know whats wrong with me after trying to play it in my cd player, my friend pointed out that its not a book on cd narrated by charlton heston but a video. Although to be honest I couldn't stop thinking about what a sweet ride his bike was and if he'd done any cool jumps yet. Oh well I guess I'll pop it in my vcr and see if it has any cool music I can get down with.

I've been to more dealerships then you can imagine, and have owned and purchased too many cars to list. I've been buying cars for years, and I have never seen this before in what's happened to RX8. If you wanna get pissed off and offended by the truth, go ahead. Damn, now your annoying comments got me all riled up. We just can't win. It's all good man. You don't have to agree with what you read, but for god's sake, take it with a grain of salt, and don't create an argument. Keep the peace.
Well, I am from your area, and I agree with him. I work right by maple shade mazda, and their lot never has a lot of 8's, nor does holman down the shore.

The reason he got "riled up" is that you are continuing a myth, which directly involves owners. The "issues" with the car, for the most part, are unique to the engine, and the fact that most owners do not read the manual, IMO.

Geez, people sure are nasty when they are online, and safe from retaliation.

For those of us who read the owners manual, the DVD brought nothing new to the table. For those who did not read the manual, but did view the DVD, oil usage, flooding and octane requirements should never be a problem for you. For those who might have done either or both, if you still have issue with flooding, oil and octane - you're all hopeless.

Mazda should send these DVDs to ALL the magazines that test cars, and what would really be sweet is replace the damn disclaimer on the NAV system with this video - yeah!

I still haven't received my DVD... it's kinda disappointing because I know that Mazda has my information. I wonder if they are sending them out based on VIN, purchase date, or warranty record?

I wonder if that's it. I purchased 12/31/04 VIN about 37400. I haven't gotten mine yet, either. I suppose it doesnt really matter, as I read the entire manual when I got the car. (Honestly, I did - it drove my wife nuts.) Still, I'd like to have it for no other reason than to have all the info on the car.

Okay, since I'm not the only one:

I called Mazda Customer Service to inquire and the rep said they are being mailed out in waves and to give it a few more weeks.

He did not know if the CDs were being send in any particular order, but said Mazda wanted to start sending them out right away, so they did not wait for all to be stamped out.

They know I'm a half-wit so I got mine last week.

I use it as a background presentation on my in-car DVD when I have the car on "display".

It has some nice footage.

That's bizarre. If you really want it that badly, you should call Mazda about it. I just got mine this week, though, and I can tell you, as 6speed8 said, you're not missing out on anything. It's just a little 10-minute deal on why the Renesis engine is better, how to check your oil, and how to start a flooded engine. If I had the webspace, I'd just rip the video and post it online. Someone else may want to do it, for our deprived brethren.

Sure.
Better yet, I can get one of the editors at my studio to burn a copy.

I'll try to RIP it and post the MPEGs for everyone else.

Regarding "engineering out the problems", one thing that strikes me as odd is the lack of an oil level gauge. I know this isn't a costly item since my 1984 Renaul-AMC Alliance econobox had one, and it was accurate enough. Given the special needs of the rotary engine, something like this would seem to be a natural.

For those of us still waiting for our RX-8 DVD, Mazda customer service says the company contracted to produce the DVDs is having problems producing them.

tell the contracted company to check the oil level in the maching stamping the DVD's. also, i hope they did not turn the machine off cold because they will need a
special procedure to get it restarted. :p
