I'm sure a lot of you know that most of the cars time are taken when the clutches ARE dropped. I have several specs sheets that shows the RPMS that the clutch is dropped. I'll find them on my computer and post several..............

That's because you're supposed to drive it s..l...o..w to let members of the opposite sex check you out. More attitude in taking your sweet time

You're right. A little more oomph would do the car wonders.

Read the bottom left of the spec sheets and you will see that most if not all the cars 0-60 MPH Times were taken WITH THE CLUTCH BEING DROPPED:

350Z-Redline is 62000RPM Dropped at 2000RPM 0-60mph 5.6sec

Crossfire-Redline is 5700RPM Dropped at 4200RPM 0-60mph 6.4sec

G35- Redline is 6200RPM Dropped at 4000RPM 0-60mph 6.1sec

05 Mustand - Redline is 6000RPM Dropped at 2000RPM 0-60mph 5.3sec

RSX- Redline is 7400RPM Dropped at 4000RPM 0-60mph 6.7sec

RX8- Redline is 8500RPM Dropped at 7500RPM 0-60mph 5.9sec

Well, the RX-8 is one thing that other cars - no matter how much torque they have - ain't: It's truly special.

And living in the country of no speed limit, rest assured that only 2 Porsche Turbos and 1 Ferrari Testarossa overtook me so far on the autobahn (after 30.000 km).

Besides that, you can get a BMW 320d or 320i for the same price, but no M3. And they will never feel even half as special ...

This car is for touring at high speeds. On the highway between 70-80 drop it to 4th gear and nail it. Red line the gears and the car pratically shoots like a turbo. You'll be over 100 and hanging onto the steeering wheel in a flash. I've had much success with cars that try to tease me up in those higher ranges. Other cars start to loose there troque (that the RX8 is lacking) and the RX8 is just getting started.
drop to 4th gear in 70-80? um how about dropping it into 3rd at 70, or personally my sweet spot is 60 drop it to 3rd gun the revs till the tone and then shift to 4th

econobox car, rocket like engine...equals my silly name for WRXs and STIs, etc.

and those spec are right, what is IKE talking about...these times have been posted over and over again on the forum

now a 350z can really be made to haul with some inexpensive MODs, the RX-8 still like unlocking a bank vault...I'm feeling this spring we are going to see some amazing performance rollouts

Redline starts at 8500, rev limiter hits at about 9500, I think. Rarely look at my Tach when I am driving.

Did I mess up? Alot of websites have the redlines wrong. I know ours is 9000 but some mags say 8500 or 9000. Which one is right? lol Either way IKE I got the times from the PDF Files off of "Road and Tracks" Website. All of these file can be found on their website. I was just making it easier for people to view by just opening them here. But the main topic was dropping of the clutch. YES MOST IF NOT ALL CARS 0-60 TIMES ARE TAKEN WITH THE CLUTCH DROPPED! You have to click on the files I provided and scroll to the bottom left and it will tell you at which RPMS the clutch was dropped for each car.

Here are the files again, open them and check out the very bottom left of each and it tells you when the clutches are dropped in each car.

The number you're using is not the redline, it's the RPM where peak power is made.

Yes you need to be fast with the clutch in order to ensure a good time. However, when you consider the actual redline of these cars and what they're launching them at it's not really a bid deal. Launching the RX-8 1000-1500rpms below its already high redline is just brutal compared to what those cars are launched at.

Even the above links state the same Redlines. Even with G35 theres no way that car should need to be dropped at 4000RPMS to get its 0-60 times. I mean that car has mad ***** of HP in it.

The above links make no mention of the redline.
