Im about to get an Rx8 and i wanted to get your opinions on maintenance. What do you do and how often as far as regular maintenance goes. Thanks!

 

Check the oil at least every 1000 miles, and change the oil every 3000. Not much else besides put gas in it, and drive the hell out of it. :D

BTW, I change the oil in ALL my cars every 3000 miles and have for years. Seems to help them to be in perfect running order well into 6 digit mileage.

 

I just got my RX8 6-speed too. Please help on the questions below.

1. Is Octane 95 good enough for RX8? Over here, we have Octane 92, 95, 98 and 100.

2. I have heard Castrol GTX 20W-50 engine oil is good for rotary. But the closest I have here is GTX 15W-40. Is it close enough? If not, what is the nest alternative.

3. i live in a tropical country, what is the recommended coolant, brake fluid, gear fluid to use?

4. How often should I change on the above fluids? (besides the engine oil).

And as for the oil, I believe it is 5W-20 not 20W-50.

For points 3& 4 I would follow the manual.

The car comes with a Jap manual, even the Bose stereo is in Jap frequency.......I could only do with some wild guess........
