you can order the key with your car. you can also order a type-r switchblade key instead.

..but you have to order it with your car or you need to replace something in the starter and the ignition housing. (so said my dealer)

That is the problem, our remote fobs do not fit in the case like the J-spec ones do. Our key fobs are wider and doing have the buttons down the middle, like in the picture. I have been contemplating on whether I should "cut" the foam inside the case to fit our key fobs.

If you get one, just get the key and laynard (its pretty cool with the RX-8 rotary motif on it).

Is it possible to get the J-Spec key FOB and reprogram it, to work with the U.S. Model... I know the actual key works but I'm talking about the remote unit. I saw someone post the directions on reprogramming the key FOB's..

That I do not know. I bought the J-spec key and had my dealer try to program it, which they couldn't. I should have just followed the insuructions here on the forum and all would have been ok. the key does work when programmed correctly. Someone want to purchase the J-spec key fob and try it out?

are you referring to the retractable key or the rotary key?

AKS4 09-08-2004 01:38 PM

I'd assume he means the rotary key, and the lack of the case with it.

Yes the rotary key, but not the case the small lanyard with the little rotor...
