Take him to an autocross, or something. Anybody can have a fast car, but it's better to be a fast driver.
Or better yet, don't care. So what if someone says their car is faster, if anything, I just tell them I can lap such and such track faster than they can, and leave it at that. That, or just laugh and walk away.
Our Rx8's aren't particularly fast in drag races, mid 6-seconds 0-60mph for the GT 6 speed(I see you've got an auto.)
If you love your Rx8, just love it and enjoy it.
But if you want it to go fast.. Go forced induction, but do it right.
Or, you could go nitrous, if you really wanted.
Enjoy this car for what it's built for, as something for twisty roads, and track days. It's not a one trick pony(Haha, I said pony, like, a Mustang. Oh wait, Mustang's tend to be one trick pony's, go figure, Mustang? Pony? Get it?)
(I say tend to be, because a new Boss 302 Mustang beat me at the last two autocross events. ****er.)
Anywho, seriously, if you love your car, love it more for what it's good at.
And, search around on the forums for things you can do.
And most importantly, get some thick skin for this. People tend to dislike people who don't search for easily answered things if you search, and there have been a ton of people the past few days doing that.

Exactly. Just brush it off. If people want to make fun of the car they're likely just jealous. RX-8s are amazing pieces of machinery - take pride in the rotary.
If you want speed in straight line, you bought the wrong car. FI or nitrous are your only options for more speed. Mazda milked the 1.3L for almost all it's worth straight from the factory, so mods such as exhaust will only provide minimal gains. That being said, if you want a little more power buy a 6-speed MT RX-8. Still not going to win many drag races, but has a few more horses.
You could leave the big, heavy Camaro behind in the twisties. If the ***** doesn't believe you, take him to a track and embarrass him.

Honestly, I don't understand why you give a flying f*** if somebody makes fun of you...
This car was built for handling (One of the best handling vehicles known to mankind!)...Not power.......The end.

Regardless of what model he has; you're comparing cars designed by people with vastly different priorities in mind. You'll never beat one of the new 2010+ Camaros in a straight line. They were designed for raw power and torque and to fulfill the American obsession with going really fast in a straight line (which I admit, can be fun). If thats the kind of car you want, you bought the wrong one. I prefer a more balanced sports car myself.

First off, I don't believe this at all. "Everybody at school" doesn't make fun of anyone or anything. Besides, the RX-8 is a fantastic car, and most people love them.
This may very well be true.
But your biggest issue is that you actually give a rat's *** that someone is comparing your beautiful, refined ride to a frickin' 4th gen Camaro!!! If you can't get over that on your own, I can only suggest therapy.

Yeah dude, don't worry about it. If you want a drag car, go get something that performs like a boat and drop a V8 in it. So what if their car's fast in a straight line? Doesn't make them a fast driver.
Go to some track days and/or autocross events and enjoy your car. So much better than roughly 15 seconds of your life going in a straight line.
That's what on-ramps are for.
Hell, if you want speed, full track days have that. And some of the larger autocross courses can hit some pretty intense speeds. (Of course, others are smaller, and very technical, and others anywhere in between. All a blast.)
Oh, and entry fees are roughly $30-40 for those, and all you need is a car that passes tech inspection(Basically a safety inspection) and a helmet! I got mine for not even $150 shipped.
