where did you have your V1 mounted? Is it up high by the headliner or was it in the center of the windshield. I'm curious because I too have a V1, but I may start taking it down everytime I leave the car.

I don't think I saw where anyone answered one of your questions, but obviously unless you have the shock sensor installed or some other system, the "stock" alarm system will no go off on a window break. That's why I got at least the shock sensor. Before everybody jumps in....be careful......I recently learned the shock sensor won't work on 06 and above with the smart key. I won't swear to that unless I go back and find the thread where we discovered that.

the alarm systems in our cars have lots of factory upgrades that make it (in my opinion) better then an aftermarket job you'd get.

i have the anti-theft alarm from factory (whatever that is) and it had a list of available upgrades including glass break and some others.

Where are those upgrades available from?

Only upgrade to our stock alarm is the shock sensor that you can add yourself with the DIY threads on here.

As a victim of break-ins on a previous car--my sympathy.

i cant believe that was at your house. we had that happen to my dad and his work van. at like 2PM some guys in a suburban park right out side w/ everyone home, break the back window and take about 300$ worth of tools. that all happened in about 30 seconds. my dad ran out side but by the time he got there they were pulling away. people are just sick when they steal. i had a alarm on my other car cause i had a Sony head unit + some other stuff put in it. i didnt think i'd need a alarm on the 8, but now im thinking it might be a good idea

I'll say this one more time to hopefully save you guys some trouble. I have a 2005 and have the anti-theft system(this includes a black box up in a certain place in the paasenger footwell) which the shock sensor wires into. I was trying to help someone on this forum with theirs and what we found out was that he didn't have that box and was an 06 with the keyless or smart key entry. The below in red was the last communicatio we had on the subject.

I headed to the dealer and they didn't understand it, but after some digging, they found a letter from Mazda Canada that states " The Shocksensor for the 2004 > will only work on 2004 to 2006 without the smart key system. The sensor will not work on 2006 with smart key or 2007 2008 models."
They made a call to mazda technical hotline and I'm waiting to see what they say.

I have just PM'd him to see if he ever got the full answer on this, but be warned that if you buy the shock sensor made by Mazda and on certain dealer websites etc, and have the above.........it may not work!

This is a great add on and all I have to do is bump my windows and it goes off, but it's no good if it's not going to work for you now is it?

I'm off to see if I can find out this answer another way and I'll post here if I find something!

It appears there may be a new one.......0000-8F-K01A.......but I still haven't confirmed operation on all models or even what models it will work and not work with.

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. Did you ask your insurance about the V1 being covered by Homeowners/Renters insurance? Sometimes those things are covered under that policy.

That was mention above and I hope he sees it as it probably will be. A lot of people don't know that your homeowners will cover you a lot of times in this instance and also cover a loss if you are traveling and let's say you get something jacked from your hotel room.

Just wanted to give a quick update. Valentine is an EXCELLENT company.

They had my serial number on file(document yours, folks!) and when I emailed them and let them know it had been stolen they noted it.
After the weekend a valentine rep called me and let me know that someone had ordered replacment parts using my serial number. They completed the order and after I gave the police report and telephone number to them they contacted my local police dept and gave them the billing/shipping information from the order. Because of this information, the cops assigned a detective and questioned the guy.. for some reason he confessed and the DA is now pressing charges. They recovered my detector and my out of pocket costs will probably be covered(if the guy has any income that is).

The car is repaired nearly perfectly, the bodyshop did an excellent job.

Valentine has earned a loyal customer.

Not trying to be mean but why complain when you left it out for them to take. I deal with these types of claims all the time and can't understand why ppl think...."It will never happen to me". This world if full of ppl who always want what you have and will stop at nothing to get it.

No, I even said it was partially my fault. I used to take it down every time I parked but within the past couple of months had gotten lazy. Taking expensive electronics down is an unfortunate but necessary deal- some people just can't respect other's property enough to work hard for their own. The same kind of people who vandalize others out of 'spite'(jealousy)

That sucks, glad to hear that it turned out well. I was never impressed with my dad's V1, especially for the price but you can't beat that for customer service. My best and only advice for theft is, get a garage. No alarm, car cover, guard dog etc will keep your car from broken into unless it's locked away in a secure garage.

Is understandable not everyone can afford to have an apt. w/ garage or to build one, but it is totally worth having. Not to mention saving ur car from sitting outside exposed to the elements and the fu**ing haters of the world.

I wont live anywhere unless it has a garage, just way too many benefits. No way in hell.

My garage only has enough space for thee 'vette.


But at least i got a gate i lock up every night, and motion sensing lights, i know that doesnt do much, but eh.
