I, too, was just thinking Too bad you can't put it on backwards, so when you zoom zoom up behind someone on the highway they can read what it is and know to move move!

The reverse spelling will have to be aftermarket, good idea, but this is the same badge that is on the back. So one side is chrome, and the other is double-sided tape on a flat surface. It should save people from walking to the back to see what it is while parked. I'm still thinking of some non permanent, non destructive way to affix it, and easily take it on and off. That way depending on my mood, or situation, put it on or take it off. Thanks again for all the input.

I like that, it looks good. It may, however, make the car look to busy. I wonder how it would look with the front mazda symbol and the rear Rx-8 badge removed... hmmm... It is these little unique things that people do to their car that makes it truly theirs.

on a side note...how bout the "rx-8 rotary emblem" (ie. wheel centers, door sills...) in place of the "flying m" on the front? just thought of that. hmmm...it might look nice. (like the viper, or corvette front badges.)
i don't have a lot of "photochopping" time so if anyone beats me to it please post it. otherwise i'll post as soon as i have time to do it.
just remember...it was MY idea! (or at least i was the first to post it...?)

I was waiting for Bro Voodoo to chime in.
I like the combination of the grill molding and badge - at least on Titanium but don't remember seeing the same mod on a winning blue.
Not sure I like the badge without the molding though.

I'm still here, just not posting as much. FYI, I did install it on my front grill 3 months ago. Used a hot glue gun with the clear stick, it is easily removeable, with no evidence of being on there when removed. It was a little off center on my first attempt, so I popped it off, templated the area I wanted it to go, then reaffixed it. I have added the front rotary accent since the picture. When I took it to the dealer for its first service, the service manager and the mechanic that worked it, both said they liked all the accessories I added, but specifically mentioned how good they thought the front grill badge made it look. The manager said he never remembered seeing it in the accessories book, and I told him that it was the rear badge affixed to the front, and was not a formal accessory. Both commented that the front badge looked good and caught their eye at different times during the visit. Needless to say, it appears to be one of the most noticed accessories, from people who know and see more RX-8's than I do. It comes off very clean in the event I get tired of it, or want to change it out for a blue one.

I really like it! The grill area is just too large an expanse of black, particularly on the lighter colored vehicles. The badge brightens it up just enough. I'm planning on making grilles for the a/c and oil coolers and was pondering whether or not to replace the radiator grille, just for this "black hole" reason. Now I think I won't have to!
I remember reading that one of the rear badges was not affixed with posts - was it the RX-8 logo? If so I'll plan on a transplant when I get mine. Cost - $0! Thanks for the idea!!!!

Nubo, The RX-8 that is on the back is taped. I too am planning to cover the radiator opennings with some sort of free flowing material, just haven't decided on what kind. I'm thinking about velcro to hold it, so it will be easy on and off for cleaning.

Looks great - I also thought the corporate pix with the RX8 logo was a grille badge and was frankly disappointed when I found out it wasn't an available accessory. Glad you clued me in to this approach. Do agree that the Mazda whale tail badge makes it look a little too busy, gut there are a pair of locating holes under that badge that would need to be cleaned up.
Hey de-badge guys: how big a deal was that? Body shop trip - am I right?

naaa..
I'd stick with the cleaner look.. I honestly think it doesn't add much the car.. the car by itself says alot already..
It's like a millionaire with a name tag that reads "millionaire".

How funny that this thread was revived, because I saw you the other day on North Hill Ave. Except, I didn't think it was you, because I forgot that you had badged the front. I specifically saw it as I passed and thought that it looked really sharp. I wondered what forward-thinking person might be driving it. What a goof. Yeah, after seeing it in person, it looks really slick. Very distinctive, yet tasteful. I know, my car was filthy! I washed it yesterday.

Thanks B-Nez. With all the new 8 owners a lot of forgotten threads are getting revived. The pictures I originally posted really don't do it justice, cuz it was taped on and you can see the connecting tape in the closeup pictures. Mine was looking pretty grubby last week when I saw you pass. Been waiting for a clear day (yesterday) to clean her all up.
The badge I bought from the dealer had some really strong epoxy type tape, so I just assumed that that was all they used to hold it on, sorry about the mis-info on the back RX-8 badge. They probably put holes just to discourage debadging, IMO a template would have been a much less obtrusive way to line it up.
