well considering i have a 04 rx8 gt with borla exhaust and a k&n typhoon i tryed lift off at 6k rpm but i dont want to damage my vehicle and is it alright to lift off at 9500? i will be getting a performance chip to make the rpms go up to 10k or more soon and hoping that will increase performance

That will seriously **** your car doing 9500rpm launches repeatedly.

Mainly the transmission, don't be silly man.

Definitely the "power chip"! Then just practice as many 10,000 rpm clutch drops as you can until you perfect the technique. You'll be running 11's in the quarter in no time.

DeadlyCrow,

If you are finding that the responses here are somewhat not very helpful, then take a moment to read this thread from yesterday: https://www.rx8club.com/lounge-4/need-mods-241974/

It shows what happens when new owner's walk in asking illiterate questions without searching first.

But, my patience has been restored for now, so I am going to copy this from my modding thread: https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discuss...rx-8-a-233937/
Every single "ECU chip" is a complete scam for our car. At best it's the same as taping a couple $100 dollar bills to your ECU, at worst it can fry your $1,800 ECU. Our ECU is too smart to be fooled into doing anything more than a few miles, and the OEM tune is already close enough to perfect that the ham-fisted approach of trying to fool it in a narrow set of circumstances while crippling it in the rest is a recipe for engine destruction.
I'd recommend reading more of that thread to get a grasp on what you need to do.

Ignore at your own peril, like that other guy.

And that K&N intake is actually costing you power. You would gain power back by going back to the stock intake. And I am 100% serious about that.

Consistently running the engine up above 9K is only damaging it.
The oem air cleaner assembly isn't that bad, if you still have it. I performed this mod https://www.rx8club.com/do-yourself-...ke-box-130332/ along with the Racing Beat duct in an attempt to improve my car. The AEM or Mazdaspeed (same product) also seems to improve the engine.
The closest thing to a performance chip, is removing the ecu and sending it to Racing Beat to have it reprogrammed. The only other practical way to retune the engine is to use a laptop or hand held device and get a custom tune. You can read all about that in RIWWP's links.
