I 1st test drove an 04 as soon as they came out. The looks just drew me to it. I wasn't ready to buy however, just went to have some fun. The dealer is a freind and whenever I show up to look at cars he just tells the sales guy to let me drive anything I want, of coarse that doesn't include the Shelby's or Vipers he has. I loved the car after driving it, and I drove that one pretty hard. My uncle had a RX3 and I remembered how much fun we had cruising in that car.

A couple of years later I decided it was time for a new ride. I had started driving my wife's 2000 maxima, and the car had some hard miles on it. Should have been totaled after someone ran a stop sign and smacked it pretty good. After that it just wasn't the same car, argued with the insurance about even repairing it since the estimate was almost 50% of the value of the car. By the time the repairs were done it was more than 50% of the value.

I went to the dealer looking for a speed 3 after reading some reviews. I test drove it, and the car just wasn't what I was looking for. It just didn't fit me. I dont like to buy new anyways, since I usually only keep a car for a couple of years normally, plus I put a lot of miles on cars. So after talking to the GM there he showed me the car his wife had been driving for a year. An 05 auto, base package. It had been well taken care of, low miles, and cheap. I would have prefered a manual, but I do spend a lot of time in trafic, the car was less than a year old, clean, and not driven hard. That was just over 3 years ago, and I am planning on keeping this car far longer than anything else I have owned. Usually by now I am tired of driving the same vehicle, however I still grin evertime I look at it, and have decided to invest some time/money into it.

I have not had many problems with the car at all. Most of those I have had were taken car of under warranty. I have owned a lot of cars, and the only one that had less problems durring the warranty period was the maxima.

i first had an 02 monte carlo ss that was starting to go anyways....got my 8 over a year ago i dont care for a lot of newer cars but i have always loved the rotary cars and loved the look of the 8 but never considered it cause everyone said it was slow well...my list was 05+mustang gt 00-02 trans am ws6 98+vette 03-05sti and 350z well i first drove the mustang....loved the engine and the exterior but upon closer view and thinking omg i dont want a mustang everyone has one and the car is awefully cheap. could not get financed on the trans am at the time because the cars were selling more than blue book price again i was sad. could not find a vette in color/condition/price i liked...the sti i hated and the z i liked but didnt at the same time haha... then i really wanted a 911 but thats out of my range til i down size my fleet so anyways my dealer friend was like what about an rx8 and i said idk heard they were kinda slow he told me to just drive it and i fell in love and researched as much as i could and bought the car i had about 2k negative equity and go financed for 18k it was an 04 vr 6sp no aero package and no nav has everything else with red and black leather. sometimes when i dont drive it for months i regret buying it til i drive it again and its like wtf was i thinking. current fleet haha(98 jeep grand. 04rx8 gt vr. 1990 nissan 300zx. 78camaro z28 original car pushing 450hp)

When I was a senior in highschool I was looking for a new car and I stopped by a Mazda dealership just looking around and I saw the RX8 I feel in love with it but obviously couldn't afford a 30K plus car. So January of last year I was screwing around at a Mazda dealership back home in Kentucky with my dad and test drove a 08 wanted the car but it was still out of my price range. Dealer called me later that day saying they had a used 05 base model. Agreed to buy the car without even seeing it. Turns out they were wrong it was a fully loaded GT.. So I finally got the car I've wanted and I love driving it still... Can't go wrong with the 8

What else is expensive other than having to put oil in it regularly and the lack of fuel efficiency?

Its important u know the cons too. Sure...after logging 30k miles into the car I still look back at it when Im walking in the house...Sure, even stock the car still gets looks everywhere..sure, I wish Pembroke blvd was the f*cking autobahn everytime I'm on it...sure, co-workers hate me for having one...but MPG isn't so great man. LOL in all seriousness the car lacks power and I personally dont feel comfortable modding a rotary but if you just want an everyday driver with a decent amount of power then theres no better car.

Love this car when I had my Mazda6 in 2003. It's not practical for me as me and my wife just had baby.

A month ago, me and wife decided we need another smaller car for the weekend and all. Looked around some used BMW 3. But found good deal on a brand new 2008 RX8 GT 6MT 2 weeks ago ($13,000~14,000 lower than MSRP in cdn price). Grab the deal. 1 week past with 450km on it. Love it. Never test drive it 'casue I know I will love it for sure.

Had an 87 RX7....125,000 miles...loved it but the seals went...had Acura, Camaros, Mercedes, Audi TT and then A4....got bored...wanted another sports car but needed a backseat....now have an 05 and still love it. I expect when I need another car, if i ever do...it will be another Audi A4 or a BMW coupe...only want AWD in the next car. Loved that A4 but a little boring without a sports package...also a bit more expensive to own after warranty.

Started my car hunt with a piece of paper and the following cars.
350Z : No storage space, only 2 seats and cheap interior - Gone
S2000: Only 2 seater - Gone
STi: Nice car AWD, fast - In
Legacy GT: Same as STi but more adult - In
RX-8: Love the looks and always wanted a rotary, 4 seats - In
G-35: Great looks and quality, 4 seats - In
Miata: Great car but 2 seats - Out

Next came the research and price comparison.
STi: Really great car but ugly as hell and way too boy racer, high insurance - Gone
Legacy GT: All the pluses of STi but no boy racer look - In
RX-8: Looks good all around but worried about terrible MPG. - In
G-35: Again beautiful outside but cheap interior, $7K more then the others - Gone

Time to test drive.
RX-8: Great ride and fun to drive, price was better then I thought and the car looked like sex. Still worried about MPG.
Legacy: Great car, does not handle as well as the RX but more power and room. AWD for Chicago Winters is a big plus. MPG was better.

In the end the RX-8 wins out, the LGT was just way too boring looking. The price on the RX was great $26,500 out the door for a GT. I figured the money I saved would off set the poor MPG.

lol @ raptor

I did almost the same thing with a sheet of paper:

s2000, 350z, Eclipse, G35, RX-8, STI, EVO

Couldn't really afford any of them so I bought the least unaffordable
