Wow I read this whole thing.

Let's upgrade the suspension and 8 rocks.

Now if we only had more HP.

I'll take a SKy over an Evo or Z on the track anyday!

delhi - The Mazda Rx-8 has won most of the Magazine and Video comparisons since 2005 vs anything from a Audi TT to the Honda S2000.

But you know what the Rx-8 sells still haven't increased over the Nissan Z or S2000, no matter how many magazines reviews it wins.

There must be other drivers that want a combination of both good handling, competitive speed, styling and moderate price counts. In some cases 3 out four won't cut it, as it is for the beautiful RX-8. Try to argue this and then answer what is the battle cry here!! "We need more hp out of the Wankel and we would be perfect", besides all the other little odds and ends.

Darn Tmak you are a Bad man 3rd Best time on that whole page.

Darn Tmak you are a Bad man 3rd Best time on that whole page. Best time in your field. If you don't mind me asking how long a track are you running and whats the difference in a SCCA track length between the curves that the RX-8 runs and wins.

Man 62.xx when the Cobras and Vetts are pulling 69s and 71s you can drive your a$$ off. Only the 2 Evos pulling 59.xxs have better time.

donack, I just got lucky. Lime Rock is 1.5 miles. We run without the chicane, I think the bigger faster spec races run with chicanes. Just practice and really suck your ***** in. I think a RX-8 is capable of a 1:04-1:06 on RA1s

playdoh, I will be at VIR right before labor day. Would you like to join me? I will be going with MazdaDrivers, I MIGHT go with trackdaze on the two days before, but i am not sure if 4 straight days of track days is a good idea. I am still new at VIR, my best there is like 2:22 on street tires and 2:17 on RA1s. I am still learning, but I am sure I will find a wya to hit 2:15 at the full course.

I have video from my first event at VIR, feel free to use it as a reference. Video quality and my driving are so-so, but you get an idea. I will be going to Shenandoah and VIR this year again, email me tmak26b@yahoo.com

If you want to make the 5 hours drive to Lime Rock, you can ahve some fun too.

free post. But I might as well throw in my two cents.

I chose a 350Z over an RX8 because I wanted to be young and dumb, and own a loud two door with minimally usable storage space, loud engine and mediocre gas mileage (made up for with a bunch of torque).

If the RX8 got gas mileage closer to that of an S2000, I may have ended up an RX8 owner. The rx8 is a much more well rounded car despite its quirks. It rides better and probably handles better by virtue of lighter weight and holds four people and most of their stuff.

Like the power of the Z. The interior is horrible and it only holds two people with minimum luggage. They both handle well, but 8 is easier to handle for the regular Joe.
