RX-8 Transformer
anyone know the name of the RX8 transformer?
I was at a local import video game store and I saw a line of transformer autobot action figures based on real world cars, The RX8 transformer that was on mazda's website was one of them. Just wondering if anyone knows his name.
I also saw others based on the new mustang and the C5 corvette. Me being a fan of the Rx8 was thinking about buying it for my lady friend who has a blue auto rx8, but realized the price tag was 70 bucks . hightway robbery for a toy figurine. If i have a name then I can look it up on ebay and see if it can be bought cheaper.

Yeah, yeah, shame, shame. However, I happen to have one on my desk here at work. In the US you can find the Decepticon Shockblast in a blue RX-8 at Toys R Us. I bought 4 at 30% or 50% off - I need to find my receipt so I can check how much they cost. Want to buy one?

there are 3 rx8 transformers.
white - jazz/meister (autobot)
red - jazz/meister (autobot)
strato blue - shockblast (Decepticon)
and these three transformers come in 2 types of material. metal and plastic. the metal ones are made by Takara BinalTech and typically go for around $50-$80, and then there are the plastic ones made by Hasbro, and those should be around $20. the hasbro versions are based off of the Takara line.

AUTOart makes some very nice diecast RX-8 models, too (starting page 20). Very detailed.
There's a X-Men collector's edition version selling for $90 or so. Do you remember the phone hidden behind the radio? It's in the model, too.

But I concur with everyone who says the Japanese version is superior. The diecast metal and the awesome paintjob is definitely worth it! Also there may be a 3rd version coming out soon. Lately all the other Alternators (model car Transformers) have had a 3rd repainted version so I suspect the Rx-8 will be next.

Soundwave.. You can count many.
You guys are squabbling over the quality of a toy that looks like your car. You have the car -- -why do you need a toy that looks like it?
If they make an RX8 Teddy Bear, are you going to get one and sleep with it?
