Lesson? If you can avoid it, never ever ever ever ever let anyone drive your car. I never valet or have my car washed or even touched my anyone if it's not absolutely necessary. When it is unavoidable, I ALWAYS ask to drive the car. I have turned down many businesses when they say no. But usually they understand and will let me drive it on on off the ramp, or park it or whatever.

I am even more particular about my RX-8 than any other car, since the early models are flooding if not handled correctly.

It pains to see this happen.. I'm very sorry for your loss.

FYI, RX8's dont have the "crash bar".

On the S1 it can be removed. Not so with the S2? Some members here have built smaller versions for their cars.

That would be the case with any car that you really care about!!

But as you said, it might not always be possible.
