Saw my first RX-8 on the road yesterday on the way home from work. It was a red one, heavily-disguised with vinyl nose and "tail" masks, taped over badging, and manufacturer plates. It was making a left turn and I was too far over to get behind it in stopped traffic, so best I could do was roll the window down and listen to it take off. It sounded almost identical to a stock FD but more "throaty". It looks like nothing else on the road when you see it in motion and sure gets a lot of stares.

 

Oh my God!!! Where did this happen?

 

Southern California, not too far from Mazda's headquarters and R&D facilities. Rumor there is a yellow one around also.

That's what I get for living in VA. I'm jealous.
