Rushing Water Sound from engine
Rushing Water Sound from engine
hi, has anyone noticed that there is a sound of water rushing from the engine appon start up....also ive noticed that when the engine isnt to tempurature, it does it as well if reved up a little. im curious what this is? im assuming its the engine cooling system kicking in?
It's most likely the sound of coolant running through the heater core.

I've heard this on my 8 as well... I think Darkbrew is correct. Hmm, I think there's even a thread around here SOMEWHERE that talks about a possible solution.
Don't worry though, it's nothing wrong with your car.

You can search for "marbles in can / blender. Many have this problem and have restricted the flow of coolant into the heater core and had the noise go away. I wouldnt recomend leaving it restricted. This issue sounds normal.
actually i never hear it on mine except when i had done some work on the car and forgot to top off the coolant level, once I did, no gushing sound at all. I would check the coolant level to be sure if it was me.
completely normal. welcome aboard :-)
as for higher revs, don't go over 3-4K until warm. Wait until it's below 10 or so out. Frick, the first time i started up and it shot up to 3-4RPMs, i about stroked out.
