Rushing Water Sound from engine

Rushing Water Sound from engine

hi, has anyone noticed that there is a sound of water rushing from the engine appon start up....also ive noticed that when the engine isnt to tempurature, it does it as well if reved up a little. im curious what this is? im assuming its the engine cooling system kicking in?

It's most likely the sound of coolant running through the heater core.

I've heard this on my 8 as well... I think Darkbrew is correct. Hmm, I think there's even a thread around here SOMEWHERE that talks about a possible solution.

Don't worry though, it's nothing wrong with your car.

You can search for "marbles in can / blender. Many have this problem and have restricted the flow of coolant into the heater core and had the noise go away. I wouldnt recomend leaving it restricted. This issue sounds normal.

pretty normal. that sound means you aren't overheating.

That's what happens when you don't have pistons. The engine is so quite you hear everything.

actually i never hear it on mine except when i had done some work on the car and forgot to top off the coolant level, once I did, no gushing sound at all. I would check the coolant level to be sure if it was me.

completely normal. welcome aboard :-)

as for higher revs, don't go over 3-4K until warm. Wait until it's below 10 or so out. Frick, the first time i started up and it shot up to 3-4RPMs, i about stroked out.
