Rotary shaped exhaust?

I was thinking about the influence of the shape of the rotor on the RX-8, then something struck me. Rotor shaped exhausts. My Photoshop skills aint good enough but I'm sure there are many of you with excellent skills. You think you can design one?

That would be cool... I could ask my friend artist to draw one and then maybe have my buddy at the machine shop custom fabricate exhaust tips...

My friend was saying this to me the other day...
and I told him that it reminds me of those stupid looking "Chevy bowtie" exhaust tips and I told "neat idea, but not for me!"

True... I would have to actually "see" the exhaust tips... but it may be to much "rotary for the car, if that's even possible...

Too much rotary? Actually, I'm surprised Mazda didn't shape the exhaust, too. Has anyone else noticed the rotary cutouts in the headlight bezel?

I'm positive that was unintentional and more about function than design.

Haha! You know, I should pull up to a wall at night and see if I can't see a little rotary shape made by the light coming through that cutout.

Someone elsemade a post aboutthis idea a while back in the photo gallery forum. They did photoshop editsof what it would look like too. I cant findthe post for some reason though. I remember that I didnt like the way it looked in the pics at all. I think it lookstoo cheesy man. Probablywouldnt be too hardthough to make rotaryshaped tips.

No, actually I'm serious. I seriously think that is too subtle for anyone (other than a person with a keen eye) to notice. Nothing that I have read or pictures that I have seen suggests that is one of the rotary styling cues. That's why I believe it serves a function rather than just a rotary symbol. I could be wrong.

Actually moRotorMotor, I got this bit of information from the MazdaUSA RX-8 Flash site and it says...

The Mazda Rotary Engine is so integral into the existance of the RX-8, it enjoys significant recognition throughout the car's styling. Inside, you'll find the shape tastefully integrated on the shift lever, well as on the side-still covers and making its most dramatic appearance on the front-seat head restrains.

Also, if you haven't notice (which I doubt), you can see the rotary styling on the hood, and the rear fog lights.

Actually, I thought you were being sarcastic, too.

I think this quote is in the brochure, too. Seems like the Mazda engineers had fun seeing where they could stick the rotary emblem. I'll bet the headlight cutout isn't even the most subtle of them, and I'm pretty sure it's not functional.

Actually, I suggested in a previous thread that a large single rotary shaped exhaust tip coming out where the rear rotor symbol currently resides would look neat. I'd still like to see it done . . .

You meanjust one exhaust pipe coming out from the rear center like on PorscheBoxsters and other cars? Wouldnt that mess up the complicated intake and exhaust systems Mazda "perfected" for the Rx8?

By theway found the post thanks to mikeb. It wasin the bodykit forum I was wrong. Heres the photoshop they made

The entire post ishere https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-exterior-appearance-body-kits-27/just-thought-take-look-15050/

Those picsjust show whatit would lookif you used the accents as the tips. Maybeit would look a little betterif it the rotary tipsyou used didnt look just likethe rear accent.

I don't think the exhausts would look that. Shouldn't use the rotary accents. Perhaps someone could just use some old aluminum exhaust time and start mending.

OK; I fixed it. See if this attachment works.

I still think this is a great idea. I would buy some of these tips in a heartbeat.

Yuh; three is a bit much. I could sell my middle accent to help finance the tips! :D

Anyone want to undertake this project? Make them for, say $50 a pair; sell them for $95; make some money ....???
